Losing A Chumps League Spot.

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Losing A Chumps League Spot.

Postby Piccsnumberoneblue » Wed Sep 30, 2015 8:32 am

Whilst it is inherently satisfying to see Arse and Chelsea get beat at any time, should we really be so pleased? The possibility of England losing the fourth CL spot at some point could be a real possibilit soon. We've lost a couple of teams in the Europa already and Arsenal are looking a poor bet to qualify from the easiest of groups.
But how would having only three spots up for grabs impact on us?
It could be that the loss of a qualifying place would be more of a problem for Arsenal, Scouse 2 or even united. They would certainly have less clout in the transfer market should they miss out, and a big hole in their budget making them less of a threat in the league but . . . .
Is it not beyond the realms of possibility that we could be the team that suffers by finishing fourth at some point?
So, should we be rooting for Englush clubs slightly more ?
City and sniffing knickers.
Come on Blues.

I, for one, hope we lose 4th spot. I hate Arsenal.

We, and every other country except the one that provides the reigning champions, should have only 1 spot, with more money going to Europa to make it a proper competition that teams want to win.

It seems to me that teams outside of England do want to win Europa.

Therein lies the issue I believe.

I don't know how CL vs Europa is weighted tho?

It's all a stitch up. Get Arry out with some brown envelopes to Gill to secure that 4th spot for a bit longer please.

Cheers

3 or 4 I'd like the FA cup winners to get a place.

Don't care. Will certainly not root for another team just because of some barmy coefficients!

I can't root for any of our other teams in the CL because for instance they are the rags (could never want them to win) Arsenal (detest their tarquin fans) Chelsea (fuckin loathe their cunt of a manager and cunt of a centre forward).

cause it helps the coefficient. english teams writing off the europa hurts the premier league

interesting discussion re coefficients and the 4th spot: http://www.mancityfans.net/mcfnet/viewtopic.php?f=119&t=50107&hilit=coefficient

Spot on.

Exactly. Imagine a scenario where we rely on a rag or Chelsea win in a final to secure enough points to get the fourth spot and we were the side in fourth? Could anyone want the rags to win the trophy to enable us to qualify? I for one wouldn't.

I agree, I don't care either. We should always finish top 3 and even if we didn't, have the financial backing to get back right after anyway. If losing a spot hurts one of our rivals then it's not a bad thing!

I think we should win the league 10 times in a row and bomb out of Europe every year until we only have 1 place left. Then we win it with the rags et al all sat at home.
