Of course he was.
However Keegan was about the best we could've had at the time.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

The only 'tactic', for want of a better way of describing it, that Keegan had was to simply outscore the opposition; at the end of the day not too bad a principle to follow.

However, in the promotion season with Ali B in full flow, City played some particularly fine football, even though it was conceivably at a lower level.

I was one of those definitely walking in a Keegan wonderland. But then he bought McPointy and Fowler and I thought- Kev, wtf?

That certainly soured things a little and they turned out to be a desperate, failed attempt to get bargain basement style purchases but, in other respects, I always thought it a pity we couldn't scrape the cash together for Daniel van Buyten.

I'm sure it would have made a lot of difference to us longer term.

I can only remember Pearce against Wimbledon and Tiatto against Norwich for sending offs.

And Benarbia and Berkovic is successive home wins.

Yes, sorry, it was Tiatto vs Norwich in the preceding home game that I was thinking of.

Also of course there was Joey's sending off that sparked the come back vs Spurs in the cup.

Just musing, but I wonder how, for example, a 25/26 year old Ali B would have fared in today's City side.

We've all got wonderfully nostalgic memories of him but I'd like to think he would have still stood out today as being a star, amongst all our other fine players.

Ali B as he was back then would slot into this side. A bit like Xavi at Barca. Someone with his passing ability dictates games and everything goes through that fulcrum.

Eyal was sent off against Preston.

If you don't remember it, then you forgot the reason we signed Macken.

I thought McManamanamanaman and Fowler were decent gambles at the time. There was a lot of excitement around their signings iirc.

Turned out to be terrible but them's the breaks.

The media information about City was low at that time for me, but how did we manage to get KK?

He was out of a job after the Euro in 2000, then one year later we got him. How? Why us?

Dennis Tueart wasn't it? May be wrong but I think he played the old pals act.

We didn't have Dolla dolla bill Ya'll at the time.

However you remember correctly. Keegan being Keegan he went with his heart over his head and Tueart and some other old timers gave him best pals act. If my memory serves me he had some (at the time) better offers and also from abroad. It was actually very good job by the club the lure him in.

Keegan said at the time it would take a 'special club' to convince him to join and felt that with City immediately.

Before we had money we did have a long history of splashing out money we never had. Perfected the art even!
