Ship Passing in Night Dog***t XI

THEY CAME, THEY SAW, THEY CON....firmed our suspicions that they were toss and disappeared without trace.
Immel
Charvet
Beesley
Wassall
Hiley
Heaney
Grant
McGoldrick
Scully
Peacock
Russell
Manager: Clark
Other players considered:
Weah & Trabelsi (too good in a past life to make the cut);
Frontzeck, Bradbury, Creaney & Brannan (too well remembered for being terrible);
Kavelashvili (if we needed a striker and Kinky needed a little friend, why didn't we sign Shota Arveladze? I still cry at the injustice of it);
Burridge (didn't play enough and may have been good before my time);
Allsopp (found his level and went on to have a respectable career);
Castillo (probably should've made the cut);
Thatcher (too well remembered for that elbow on Pedro Mendes).
Of the team I've picked, I think McGoldrick and (in particular) Hiley might be the harshest inclusions. Hiley did OK and was played out of position at LB. I just can't think of a truly terrible LB. LB & CM were the hardest positions to decide upon.
Help me pick the perfect XI. No academy graduates; signings only please.

Immel and Grant are probably harsh.
We've had decent keepers over the years, so Immel is possibly marginally in there, but it's still harsh, he wasn't shit.
In place of grant, I think no team could be complete without that fucking lunatic who came on as sub and scored at both ends in the Keegan era in the championship. He was so shit I've even forgot his name, but I'm sure someone will remember.

The worst man I've ever seen play at left back was David Brightwell, but he was out of position too to be fair

Can I nominate Stuart Lee for the bench?

Immel was a big upgrade on Dibble or Margetson. Especially when the latter came on as outfield sub in a cup match!

Christian Negouai?
I remember Immel being atrocious. I was only about 11 at the time and tended to cut players a lot of slack. Dibble and Margetson were crap, granted, and we didn't have a decent keeper between Bony Scrotum and Sticky Beaver.

I think Frontzeck would have to start at left back. I can't agree with Charvet at rb, and could never understand all the stick he got. Jamie Pollock should be captain. He could partner Gary Megson in centre mid.....proper pace between them.

Shocking for us but was really decent at Forest. The OP XI was full of players who were shit, whether that was with us or elsewhere.

We don't speak of that name, not even in dogshit xi. There was the definition of a water carrier at best.
I would go for Tony scully also, but I remember him being awesome on his debut away to bury, even if he did go shit soon after.
Fucking bury eh. How far we've come.

Was he the fucker who let in five at the swamp in about '94? On loan from somewhere like Sheffield?

He was unfortunately the keeper for that derby. He only played a couple of games - then went out somewhere else on loan. He ended up back at Sheffield utd and played against us later in division 1 - we beat them 3-1 and sweep scored in the last few minutes.
Does Glauber Berti count?
