Who will the great unwashed look to for their opinions now?

Heaven forbid they actually think for themselves.

I think he's one of the better studio pundits (not good at commentating matches, and should never be allowed nere United's games) and I can think for myself thank you very much.

He's decent, the fact he's surrounded by mongs makes him look better than he is though. I can't listen to the fucker though, his whiney, nasally voice has a nails on a blackboard effect on me.

Just seen this. Wow. Did not see that coming one little bit. I agree with Hazy, lot of respect for putting himself in the firing line when he has a good thing going at Sky. Maybe the cut and thrust of bring in the action was a lure he couldn't resist. It's all well and good being a pundit but it can't be the same as being in the action as opposed to talking about the action.

Good luck to him

You're definitely right in the sense that it's the very low standards I've come to expect that sets Gary Neville apart from most (if not all) of his colleagues. Fair enough about the voice thing, there used to be a female commentator on Swedish TV a few years back and she'd drive me absolutely crazy just by making sounds.

Trouble is it will now be totally Mongs!

Fair play to him for putting his opinions on the line. Many players even greater have tried and failed.

I wonder if he speaks Spanish? Did Moyes speak Spanish, he barely speaks English? No wonder he flopped.

He probably sees himself as a future manager of the rags and somehow this is his path.

Of course:

Sky Sports' Martin Tyler has described Gary Neville as "an exceptional person" and hopes they have not commentated together for the last time.

On Wednesday it was announced that Neville will take over as head coach at Spanish club Valencia for the rest of the season after working at Sky Sports as a pundit and co-commentator for the last four-and-half-years.

Tyler commentated on many of Neville's finest moments during his playing days with Manchester United and paid tribute to his love of football as he embarks on his first job in full-time management.
