Because of his injury record or is there another reason you think he's a shit captain?

I don't understand why people say 'goalkeepers shouldn't be captains'. They're the only ones that can see the whole pitch from back to front. They've got everything in front of them so they should know more than anyone what's going on.

It shouldn't matter - the captain is there to call the toss and have his picture taken with the mascots. Any player who needs a captain to tell him what to do or to make him want to win needs to have a long hard look at themself.

There should be at least 6 leaders on that pitch at all times and that we're trying to decide who may possibly be able to have a go at doing it sometimes shows the level of problem we have. Hope Pep is up for a challenge

I agree with the bean counter.
Joe is more vocal ..VK rarely screams and shouts during a match..just waves his arms around most of the time.
And you might as well add in the part that hes nowhere near the trenches when the battles break out as hes injured more often than not....waste of time.

I think the leadership needs to be from the top, so this will improve when MP leaves as we have regressed under his "leadership." I think Zaba and Vinnie are good leaders. I'm assuming a new, dominant central midfielder will arrive with the new manager. It's hard to know which new players will be leaders without seeing them regularly.

Picking Zabba over Sagna was the rright choice imo as he offers so much more going forward. Kola had such a mare today that in a hindsight maybe Clichy would've been the right choice but seriously I do not see how that would have changed the game. (and before you start going on about Clichy being the better defender that imo is bollocks and it is just as likely that Mahrez would've gone past him as well for the 1st so that's).

I agree, he's not a better defender, he's a better footballer.

I disagree he is a better defender as well as a better footballer.

I agree with previous poster. Leadership is not about one player i.e. a captain.
All the great teams had several leaders.
Guys who had pride, backbone, fight and would not give an inch.
Guys who hated to lose.

Man City - Lee, Book, Doyle, Bell, Oakes...
Notts Forest - Shilton, O'Neill, McGovern, Lloyd, Robertson...
Liverpool - Hansen, Thompson, Souness, Keegan, Daglish...
Man Utd - Keane, Nevilles, Schmeichel, Stam, Scholes...
Leeds - Bremner, Giles, Yorath, Hunter, Jordan...

How many of those have we got?

Pep needs to buy some balls.
Maybe one of each of these to toughen us up: a mad Paddy and a reckless Jock and some English steel.
Make sure the opposition know they are going to be 'very sore' after they play us - and they know this before the game!

Leadership, is very important. I hope the leadership have kept the list of players leaving under lock and key. We know players will not deliver jack shit if they decide too. Seen it before, never want to see it again.

A related question:-

When was the last time that we had a centre half that does what Hooth does i.e. bags a good half a dozen goals every season?

Vinny never has done and neither have any of our lads so far as I can remember for donkeys years!

Huth doesn't bag half a dozen goals every season.

Yep, he had a good goalscoring season with Stroke a few years back but that's about it.

As for the question, no idea, can't recall us having a goalscoring centre back at all.

Not a chance are they an upgrade on Lescott. For all Lescott's fault he was no worse than what Otamendi and MDM are playing like currently.

To be fair I was slating him, however I accept in the right set up Joleon was as good as any of the players, we have now. I also accept what was said by a mate the positional play of a John Terry puts them to shame.
