If anyone doesn't think football is corrupt, you must be mad. I've been going for 44 years and after today I'll be calling it a day at the end of the season. Bent as a nine-bob note.

I've had my season ticket for 19 years straight now and literally on the verge of calling it a day. I will see how I feel on season ticket renewal day but at the moment I'm not interested in wasting hard earned money just to see corruption on a weekend.

If it is corrupt why haven't we got our place around the table? If money talks then surely the boss has enough to talk loudest?
Incompetency I buy, take the ball out against Everton as one of many heading shaking decisions

Yeah? How about, in the last three games against Everton (this year!) two blatant penalties not given, a clearly offside goal to them and a goal to them after a blatant foul on one of our players? No? Not count?

I am not so sure. I would like to know more about the process of corruption in the PL.
Are we saying that the PL sit down with the match officials and instruct them to deliberately act in a manner to inflict damage against us.
Yaya could easily have got two yellow cards yesterday and been sent off, it would have been a easy one for a corrupted ref to get away with.
Not discrediting anyone's views but yesterdays shocking penalty decision was more about gross incompetence rather than deliberate preconceived corruption. He has a track record of making stupid blunders and not only against us.
Media bias I can agree with but I am not 100% certain that the league are influencing officials to that extent.

I don't know sheblue, the fact that we have yet to see a meaningful move towards fair play through video technology is suspect enough for me to think corruption could be at play here. We see farcical decisions week after week and nothings being done about, with all the money in the premier league they should have been pioneering this shit not living in the dark ages.
We should at least have the ability to see game changing moments challenged, like what happened us yesterday. Video technology has worked fantastically well in Rugby and other sports and has taken nothing from the game. Another thing we could take from Rugby is to have the referees miked so we can listen to exactly what's going on, that would be interesting.

It's well past the point that someone could reasonably argue all these decisions are just bad luck. So if it's not bad luck what is it? Either subconscious bias or conscious bias - one or the other (or possibly a mix of the two)

I certainly don't think there is any brown-envelope stuff going on, just a systematic bias.

Well, I had a discussion with Tokyo a few weeks back and I asked him when the last time we had possibly gained points as a direct result of bad officiating. He reckoned it was almost 4 years ago v Sunderland when Adam Johnson was given a soft penalty.
That discussion was before the ball went out against Everton. But even if that is to be counted as something similar then you have two decisions in over 4 years. Two.
We have had one to two match influencing decisions against us in pretty much EVERY SINGLE GAME over the last two seasons alone.
It's gone way way way beyond a joke. Money is ruining football. That much is true. But it's the money lining the pockets of those running it that's the problem.
They want the closest league in the world and they have it now. Well done.

The Yaya example is a good one. I don't think it's corruption but there is certainly something iffy going on in our games. Since we won the lottery in 2008 we have been the subject of endless unwarranted hate.
It's not like our fans have been cocky or anything, actually we have been modest in the extreme. We have maintained our dignity and sense of humour throughout all the dodgy champs league draws and the mind boggling reffing decisions that came with our champs games.
Now these decisions are rubbing off onto we have clearly had enough. I'm not a season ticket holder but the fact that these decisions go on and on had left me feeling like I couldn't give a fuck anymore.
No one will give a shit if we boycott of if we protest as we are rich spoilt fans now.
It's bollocks.

All of us feel the same, have the same feeling and want to end this shit and give up at football.
But you can't.
All of us can't. Remember the 4-3 in the Swamp? Remember almost 2 years without a penno away from home? And this was just in our "money era". But the truth is, we cannot. We love this club so much and we still go on, even if we are surrounded by all of this fucking corruption.
We cannot give up. We cannot even give up at that fucking idiot, Yaya, because deep down, we love the fucker for what he did for us
No fucking motivational speech here, just a simple fact. We are City. And us posting here, for every single corner of the world for the love of one club, it is a simple sample of what City means to us.
As the gentleman at the end, LOOK WHAT HAS DONE TO ME.
Did it worth it? Every fucking bent decision against us led us here.

I remember Marc Vivien Foe 'giving away' a pen against Liverpool at Maine Road, think it was a F.A. Cup game and being fucking apoplectic because there is no way on this earth we would have got the same decision at Anfield. Yesterday I just sat there and shook my head, alright I'm older, but if anything I'm less tolerant, I've been conditioned to accept we will always be treated differently.

One more bent decision this season and that's me chucking the towel in.I can take getting beat by better teams but I can't and won't take never being given a chance to win by bent officiating.

Have said it on a previous thread and I honestly believe the old Sky 4 and the FA don't like us. They would prefer anyone but us to win and they try to exert a little influence where they can. Eg, the appointment of the referees to certain games. We seem to get the ones who miss stonewall penalties when we are attacking. We get linesman who see offside when we go forward but fail to spot offsides at the other end. We get refs who miss our lads being kicked to fuck from the first whistle, yet book our lads for their first foul.
I don't necessarily think it's corruption in the way Platini or Blatter are corrupt, in accepting bribes for example, but nonetheless, the rules are different. What did Orwell say, "all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others"?
What is certain is that we have been shafted by awful officiating over and over again in the last few years and this season it's getting worse. It's just in previous seasons we were good enough to overcome the bad decisions by out scoring the opposition whereas this season our play has stagnated and these decisions are now costing us more.

This forum is so unbelievably paranoid its incredible. Is it just because its a total echo chamber now? Is it because Beefy posts thousands of times "Corruption!!!!" over and over again?
The media might not like us because we don't draw eyeballs to papers, the idea that referee's just hate us is nonsense. Hell we had bad luck yesterday, but Clattenburg could have sent Yaya off 20 minutes into the game had he really wanted to. Why didn't he if he's out to get us?
You guys are fucking nuts.

I agree re the corruption nonsense but that about Yaya is also nonsense. Whilst it was a poor foul it was never ever a red and it followed other things that Clattenburg had let go so he was always going to do the same with Yaya. The media definitely anti City and lots of the pundits but the refereeing is all about incompetence and sadly pretty well all of them are proving that week after week.

How many more result changing decisions will it take for the tossers to finally stop calling it bad luck and start thinking about what else it could be? I would like to see a mathematical analysis of questionable decisions that changed results in the Premier League by team both for and against - and I predict we would fare quite badly. Maybe those knobheads pushing the 'bad luck' bullshit would then respond to logic and statistics.

I could explain what I think are the reasons behind the bias against us but it would upset a few. I'd also be called an anti-Semite, but I'll just leave it at that for just now. I only want the competition to be fair and level - which it certainly isn't just now.
