Have the top PL clubs really been talking about only playing through the week without replays?

Who are these top clubs that TalkShite talk about.

Is this being mentioned because the Rags have Shrewsbury next?

I've seen the headlines and bothered to read the articles but I get the impression it is to do away with fixture congestion, particularly those still in Europe competitions

Whether it is actual media made around us chelski or if the FA have actually said they are considering.

Yes it would benefit us and the likes, but the original idea was surely to give lower teams a reward of their 90 minutes in the spotlight and in many cases a huge cash injection.

Fuck off the league cup if they want to cut down on fixtures

This fucling competition is dead to me after the way we've been treated over the Chelsea tie.

Bizarrely, the media has backed us so far, although I'm sure that'll change if Chelsea beat us.

I can see replays being canned, but that wouldn't have helped us this season. FA taking control of when the games can be played and then letting TV choose would make more sense, but less money for the FA.

In his after match live interview, Manuel should just say "sorry, plane to catch, so you'll have to sit there discussing nonsense on your own, you bunch of fucking morons" and then walk off

One of the 'Sun' cunts (the one who must have got a fancy job title instead of a pay rise at some point) is having a go at Pellegrini for saying the players need time to rest between games - he seems to be under the impression we will teleport them to the fixtures at the last moment.

And if we win???

I too fucking hate the FA over this but, it's still the oldest club competition in the world.

Every December I cannot wait for the 3rd round draw to find out who we'll be playing first weekend in January.

The FA cup is as part of me as City, they go hand in glove, if you asked me about UCL on the other hand.... yeah it might well be the holy grail for most fans under the age of 35 (not just talking City fans here).

The FA cup regardless of what they do to us, can't ever be dead to me.

I love the FA Cup and as always been a source of consolement in the past. Changing it may help the few but at the cost of the many. I'd rather they dropped 2 teams from the Prem (more money for us ;-)) than fuck about with the history of the cup.

How much would you give/laugh if Shrewsbury went through Monday evening?

For me, the FA cup is second to the PL in terms of priority. The CL being third. However, the club see it differently and in terms of revenue, exposure, ability to attract the best players and prestige the CL is miles ahead of the FA cup and as a business they are correct in prioritising the CL.

But as a fan and going back to being a schoolboy playing Wembley in the school yard, I prefer the romance of the cup. Kind of outdated now I know, but I am of the age where, whoever was playing in the final, I would follow all the build up on the Saturday morning wondering "if only we had beaten so and so and with a bit of luck it might have been us there today". I just don't get that with the CL.

It will cease to be the FA cup if they water it down with these changes - no more plucky home performances for lower teams against the giants forcing a replay and a huge income from gate receipts at the other ground - no more family days out at the weekend for youngsters with school the following morning after a midweek tie and any delay from sorting a result on the night. Dead to me, and the BBC can go fucl themselves too. I think I will watch a stream tomorrow as I'm curious what the lineup will be, but they sod off if they think I'll add to their domestic viewing figures.

I'd love it if the Shrews beat the rags. Expect Sky and the BBC and BT to be trotting out the lines of

A - There are no easy games in the cup
B - They are a difficult side to beat at home
C - The pitch will be a leveller
D - The injuries the rags have would cripple even Barca
E - The rags are saving their best for the cup this year

Just getting the excuses in now eh boys?

I think that ditching multiple replays was one of the measures that diminished the magic of the cup. And then making is wait ten days for the next game. Just leave it alone. They've fucked it up enough Already.

We got the other side of D earlier with Lawrenson saying only de Bruyne and maybe Sagna would be starters, so the injuries don't matter. Yes, maybe Bony wouldn't be a starter, but he would give is an option, you plank. And Delphi would clearly be a starter if fit and again would mean we could rotate when playing 3 games a week. As would Navas. And would Demechelis have played against Leicester if Mangala had been fit (or Kompany who they ignored as injured despite looking back to when he was)

But still, the rags are missing Januzaj, who's proved already he's better than Messi.

Heard that earlier. We get a lot of Lawrenson over here. He's not the worst towards us but take him with a pinch of salt. Don't forget we play Liverpool twice in the next few weeks. He's playing down our problems all the time to build Liverpool up saying they are suffering as much.

He's a bit of a knob but there's a lot worse out there.

I totally agree mate the FA Cup is part of my childhood , whoever was playing I was up first thing and watching it all day.
The Chumps League is shite , the old European Cup was the real one to win.

Forgot about the possibility of the winner now getting a CL place. How do they work it, only if the Rags/Dippers/Arse don't make the top 4?

And what happens if the winner already has a spot, does it then go to the Rags/Dippers/Arse by default; or maybe even the Spuds!

I think the rule is it has to go to a team who have a history in the competition and are therefore deserving of a place. Wonder if they'd give it to Forest?

Between the FA, UEFA and the G14, Rags and Dippers will be representing England in the CL whether they're in the Prem or not.
