Brilliant draw. Some outstanding ties in there. Valencia v Athletic, Dortmund v Spurs and the Liverpool v Stretford games will all be worth a watch. It's a shame they're all likely to clash.

I think this draw will breathe a bit of life back into this competition. I think we're wrong to denigrate the Europa League in this country anyway. They love it in Spain and Portugal. Nobody slagged the UEFA Cup or the Cup Winners' Cup when I was growing up; I've no idea how, when or why all this 'league, Champions League or bust' business began. If it's just due to the money involved, that's a shame. Footy is about pots, not prize money.

Policing costs are a lot higher in the UK, and supporter trends mean that there's a far greater focus by a few on travelling to away games than by a lot on going to home games, which is totally different to Spain and Portugal. I'm sure while Redknapp was in charge of Tottenham that it was pointed out that the club were expected to lose money for each game up to the quarter finals, and even if they won it they would only barely turn a profit.

Saying that, I wish English clubs would take it more seriously, and if they had have done over the past few seasons, the fourth CL place wouldn't be in jeopardy like it is.

According to talkshite, it's so serious that they are billing it as the game of the season. There's already been a scouser on the phone in talking about how the rags have 650 million fans and red scouse 500 million odd.
Shame it's Thursday night in the rain.

I imagine BT has gone into meltdown at the thought of it. You can bet the media will be bigging this up as the European clash to end all clashes. It doesn't get bigger than this etc. it's the round of 16 in the Europa, fellas.

Some decent games in this round, but the fact that some qualify by finishing 3rd in the CL group stages, makes it a bit of a joke comp.
If it was just (for example) featured the top teams, that failed to qualify for champions league initially, that would make more sense. I only ever watched the final of this competition before, and that only has ever featured 1 english club. Maybe Spurs have a chance this year......

It is my belief that you'll find very few Englishmen who want any English team (bar the munes) to lose to a German team. Personally I hope they put fifteen goals past you. Tottenham winning the Europa is much more palatable than any German team, or liverpool or the munes for that matter.

Who are and why do you call a team 'the Munes' ?
