Premier League - so what's left?

Postby john@staustell » Mon Feb 29, 2016 2:33 pm

I'm not staggeringly optimistic about Wednesday to be honest, but after that I believe we should be able to go on one of our traditional title-winning run-ins. With our players coming back from injury, especially Kev Brown, and a heavy dose of optimism, I see the tricky ones here as Liverpool and Chelsea. The others we should win. Go lads.

Well last season we went on a huge run to end it. The last two games we have looked much better so this is far more plausible if we can keep key players fit and then getting back Nasri, Bony and KDB will hopefully be a boost and not break up a good run.

We can do it given who we have left and put pressure on the rest. What are the other three's fixtures? I know Leicester has a tough run to end the season, but I think I recall that Arsenal's is easier(?). No idea about Spurs' remaining games.

If we win on Wednesday I'll be putting money on us to win the league.

There's a game at Newcastle in there at some point too. Great record there but it won't be easy

In my defence - it's money, and it's City.

They are all winnable. We may need to win ten and draw two of our remaining fixtures to win the PL.

Is it doable? Yes
Is it likely? We have done it before and anything can happen
Are you confident? More so than this time last week, but I personally think we will fall just short. We may well have a CL to compensate though.
Will Spuds, Leicester and arse drop points in the run in? Yep, but I'm not sure if all three will drop enough

My take on this is that we can do it, but only if we stay injury free from now on.

We have the momentum and the morale on our side, the squad is very confident. A win on wednesday could be cruciale, but it will be a very, very, very difficult game.

Scouse have a lot of dirty cunts in their squad, players that have zero brain and will try to "take revenge" in a pure and simple way: break legs, elbows and cheating.

Do we have evidence that suggests we WILL put a run together now? Not so sure, we've been erratic and my gut feeling is that we have left ourselves with a little too much to do.
I will pray to whoever is up there that I am wrong.

I don't think we'll lose another game between now and the end if the season and I am mad enough to include the Champions league (until the semi).
I haven't a fecking clue what I'm doing! Gillie come back man I want my sig back. As the Photobucket thingy gone?

IF Aguero and Kompany play every league game, we win it. Last time we won the COC, we won 9 and drew 2 of the remaining 12 and I can see similar again.

Bizarrely, the woman beating dogger just suggested we'll go unbeaten to the end of the season. Weird what a couple of wins does

Contrary to what the pundits believe, the tough games for us and our rivals will be against the relegation strugglers. Wierd results start about now every year.

Cannot see us winning the PL because our number 1 priority is the CL and we have left ourselves in a catch up situation in Pl with to much to do.
Always reckoned CL was our top priority this season.
Got my money down early at 16/1 and might put more down on CL.
Will not put any money down on PL.

Really? We always want to win the league. Yes, we want to at least get to the next round of the CL, but the competition that has been lower has been the FA Cup.

Chelsea approached things similarly last year, because the FA Cup goes on for so long, where as you can win the League Cup now and hope to use it to re-motivate players, which is exactly what I am gathering Manuel is hoping.

We don't really think we are likely to win CL, although we do have an outside chance.

A good run in should be enough, none of the teams above us look like improving on a two points per game average where as we have a history of big finishes and all our key players fit or nearly fit, just at the right time. Yaya often comes good for the last 3 months, the signs are decent there too. Ten wins from twelve would put us right there, better than that and we're almost nailed on.

Well I'm a pessimistic bastard, so I'm rather looking over my shoulder than at trying to catch the teams in front of us. Right now the rags are only three points behind us and West Ham four.

I'll change my mind if we win at Anfield - then we really do have a chance for the title - but I can't see us getting more than a point on Wednesday.
