Me and my brother are in Manchester from Friday to Monday the weekend we play Stoke ( on Sunday). I still haven't checked what non PL games that are on in Greater Manchester that Saturday, but what would you all recommend? Which grounds are particularly charming, where do you get a good atmosphere, what would be a good day out?
Championship or Conference (or lower) doesn't really matter.

No idea about fixtures but in terms of ease of access you can get to Altrincham, Bury, and Rochdale on the tram, so they might be worth some investigation.

Dale have a nice little ground (the Pearl Street Stand actually has a pub inside it - great at half-time) and they play some lovely stuff under Keith Hill. Unfortunately, they're away at Port Vale that Saturday.

That's too bad. That sounds just like the old school ground I'd like to visit

Thanks CTIDH! Will look into it + Bury.
Are the Celtics still around? I always used to start out with them when I played Premier Manager on my PC in the early 90's. If I remember correctly the pub at the station in Stalybridge does great real ales as well (read an article about it a few years back).

Alty are a 10.mins stroll from the tram stop. But if you want to see better football. Go to Oldham v crewe. Two historic teams who we used to play against in the same league.
If you fancy doing alty as it's easier. Give me a shout as I might go too.
