So, IF you are Liverpool and you fail to get into Champions League, you can use that wild card to qualify into that league. Fucking funny how they got their mind into this, when they each year qualify from the most boring league in the world.
Not so weird though. They (and Real Madrid) stand to lose a lot if tv-companies would start to pay less for a Spanish league that is effectively dead, which must be a very possible event in the near future. Setting everything in place for a European League is definitely in their interest.
Yes, indeed, but I think paying less for the Spanish league will not affect them at all. They and Real are the clubs that will always gain more money than others at any point from now on. Just look at what hour El Clasico is since 2013. (16:00), good hour for the viewers in Asia.
What I consider to be weird is that Barcelona will not have any problems qualifying in the Champions Cup, but still would want that system. Sure, financially for everyone it will be more to gain with games like Barcelona - Arse or City, vs Barcelona - Bate. But with this, they are killing the smaller football in Europe.
Just read that Galatasaray was banned from Europe today because of the FFP. They did not have any warnings, according to their executives and if you think about it, sounds a bit off. They are a rich club, huge support and amazing marketing in that area. Still, they are out.
