Ban player press releases !

Postby Sparklehorse » Fri Mar 04, 2016 10:07 pm

I am so pissed off at players stating the bloody obvious before the event and how "focused the squad is"..and it's "hunting season" and all similar garbage only to be followed by an utterly dreadful performance from the whole team and the manager.....like the latest on the website from Kolarov "winning run is cricial"....really ???
I would much prefer players to announce what they did to win us a game AFTER THE EVENT !!!!
If I was manager I would fine players for this sort of nonsense before a game..which in all honesty is disrespectful to the opponent and only serves to rile them up to prove us wrong.

So we need a blackout on interviews do we? They don't go looking to make these statements do they but just get put in front of some bozo reporter asking stupid questions. What the hell else are they supposed to say? Just take no notice like you have to with anything you read in the press.

Why don't they just say nothing ??
What is the point of saying we need to go on a winning run......its such a stupid thing to say because it's so bloody obvious.
Why not choose NOT to put them in front of a bozo reporter and instead put them in front of a mirror so they can ask themselves the question as to why they are not currently on a winning run.
If they were 10 points clear at the top I wouldn't mind so much....but when they seemingly gave nothing in the last match after all the bluster leading up to it I get jolly well annoyed !
For me it's mouths shut, heads down, elbows in and do the talking on the pitch !

But what do they say? Half the time it's the club who ask them these questions, part of the PR approach as all clubs do.

I suppose they could just say 'Yeah, you're right. We ain't got a chance and the season's over'.

The fact is that we now have huge expectations of our club and that's what they have to feed.

Maybe they could say something like "we haven't won two league games in a row since October and have just lost three in a row, two at home. I'd call that relegation form so we can forget about winning the league, as the way we're playing, we'll be lucky to get a Europa place. If I was a fan, I'd be screaming obscenities at us for being spineless every time we come up against a team in the top half of the table. If most of us don't pull our fingers out and play like we can, we'll be gone in summer as Pep won't mollycoddle prima Donnas like Manuel has"

Or they could say " it's hunting season" just before being shot by the scousers' 12 bore.

I would rather they come out and tell the truth that they have not been good enough in the league and as a collective they need to pull their fingers out and sort it out. Vinny made himself look a right plank the other day.

I still think the title is still within reach, and we all know how devastating we can be when playing with confidence and desire !!!
Personally I want less pre match talk and more in match action.....its my preference, I understand the need for soundbites to keep the media happy.
A big confidence boosting victory is essential today....then they can harp on all day how good they WERE !!!!

I am all for a complete blanket ban.

They say "we're going to do this" or "we've got to do this" and we lose. Happens with alarming regularity and there are a bunch of go-to comments they could make instead. "take one game at a time", "keep fighting until the end" blah blah, boring shit but at least we're not coming across like knobs who can't back it up on the pitch.

As soon as Kompany said that I knew we were getting fuck all from the scouse game.

So the alternative is to not do interviews at all and then get accused of being out of touch with the fans?

They can applaud the fans at the end of a win. Hunting season et al has nothing to do with the fans
