Johan Cruyff passed away

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Johan Cruyff passed away

Postby PeterParker » Thu Mar 24, 2016 12:36 pm

Wanted to put in the other section, but I think here it would be better. Lost his fight with cancer.

Maybe the best footballer that played this game.

Sad news

Those Dutch teams of 74 and 78 should have won both World Cups

And, he was 10 cm higher than Messi and could still turn around on a dime. And, he smoked like a chimney. And, the pitches were god awful.

Impressive to say the least. Not the smoking mind, but that he smoked and did all that he did.

It seems the smoking caught up with him in the end.

Yet another part of my youth passes to the next world

Great footballer. Revolutionised how the traditional game was played in terms of attacking players interchanging.

That was some quality Dutch side at the '74 World Cup with plenty of players that stood out. Neeskens, Krol, Rensenbrink etc but Cruyff had that extra bit of quality that makes good players great. A very sad loss but he certainly left his mark on football.

(Apologies for spelling mistakes).
