Next Up Stoke

Xherdan Shaqiri, Marc Wilson, Glen Johnson and Jon Walters all out for Stoke at the weekend

Our record against Stoke:
Games won: 47
Games drawn: 25
Games lost: 37

We have only lost twice to Stoke since 2010, the problem is those 2 losses were in the last 3 meetings, especially with the last one being an embarrassing performance where we got our arses handed to us and were very lucky to get away with just a 2-0 loss

Well, it's must win from now on since most of the team's focus was apparently on holiday this past Tuesday.

Stoke didn't perform too well this past weekend and may be on holiday as well given that they can't really get anything out of the season at this point. That gives us a bit more hope, although they are still dangerous.

United starting to awaken now only 2 points behind us again, and Arsenal sure to bounce back to stake their claim for 3rd place.

Another worrying aspect is that we may be overly focused on the next fixture, yet I believe we will still put in enough effort to win the game.

Was it a couple of years ago when all four of the CL semifinalists lost their league games before the CL game?
We've got to find our Premier league focus or it will be Europa league next season.

A must win game. It is as simple as that. If we let the rags sneak into fourth I doubt they will relinquish it

Just cannot call this game. It could be 3-0 either way.

The boys could put in a shift because they want CL football guaranteed next year.
Or the boys may decide this year is their best and for some only shot at winning the CL meaning they will not be bothered about the Stoke game.

This is all that is being reported on the BBC. Nasri is definitely out:

First up, is Manuel Pellegrini's wearily familiar medical bulletin...

Midfielder Samir Nasri will miss out tomorrow with a "muscle injury" but David Silva is fit after missing two games with an ankle injury.

Pellegrini also confirms that captain Vincent Kompany is fully fit.

I was hoping silva would be able to rest one more before Real Madrid.

I was thinking the opposite, get him some game time, not 90 mins though, keep him sharp

Good point. After I wrote that the thought of playing a bit crossed my mind, although I was thinking about fitness, being out for two weeks (?) or so.

Is yaya out or is it just a given that he isn't fit?

He's available for selection....say no more.

Pity about Nasri. He's not in the CL squad so would've been a shoo in to start against Stoke.

I honestly have no idea how this game will go. It's depressing watching us in the league with Pellegrini's baffling tactics and the lack of desire shown from the players.

This is a must-win game. We are at serious risk of not making top 4 so need to ensure we remain ahead of United.
