Midweek Games 25/4 - 29/4

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I always thought he looked comfortable on the ball. Just the game was too fast here for him to get that time. Maybe he is getting better but it strikes me he is one of those players who is too lightweight for England, always will be.

Suarez was always a good player but is he really top 4 material? Of course City didn't think so and seemingly neither did Barca and whilst there will always be some fans thinking a little differently it's the clubs that make the decisions.

Strange though last night that a minute before he set up the goal he made an awful mistake that had the Villareal manager going berserk on the touchline as it so nearly cost them the game if Moreno had been good enough. Had that happened I wonder what the reaction would have been on here?

I think the club need to find a happy medium (and I'm not talking about Russell Grant or the likes).
They need to find a decent compromise. We do need quality in every position in the first eleven, but I don't necessarily think that every squad position should be bought in at great expense when we have probably as good if not better in the academy, just lacking the experience.
I hope Pep finds a way to bring youth into the set-up. It is badly needed.

We will regret selling suarez , I thought he was the best player on the park and his first touch and overall skill pisses all over Sterlings.

Im fuckign gutted Pellegrini let him go.

Whether we regret it or not I'm not sure. Like I said earlier, that ship has sailed let's look to the present bunch and try to retain the best.
Where I do agree with you Carl is that he is well ahead of Sterling in technique and overall ability in my view. I always thought that he suited our game much better than a lot of the dross we've had including Sinclair, even Adam Johnson.
Like Doug says though, City decided otherwise. They saw him every day.

I think it shows that given a good run in a team, some of these kids will flourish.
What we are teaching is technical ability from a young age. I'm not sure you can teach Sterling first touch control at this stage. He should come with that for what we spent on him.

On last night evidence I'd take Suarez all day.

What makes you think Pellegrini had any say in the matter?

What manager in the fucking premiership would has ZERO say on wether or not they sign a player or release a player ?

Anyone that thinks otherwise is off their head.

So you don't think it possible that the decision to sell Suarez was already in the works before Pellegrini signed?

Anyone that thinks this isn't plausible is extremely naive.

No I dont - some managers get the chance to make players perform better than the previous manager got out of them so why would the club sell them ?????

You obviously think the club have already decided to sell and buy players without consulting the incoming manager.

Madness.

Madness? You reckon?

The reason Mancini criticised the club in the press the summer before he left was because he wanted more control in the transfer market.

Didn't Saurez just want out? It was Barca calling, and we couldn't compete with wanting to go there unless being promised first team football, which would have genuinely been mad.

Barca then sold him anyway, so apparently they were even dumber then we were since it was closer to when he has blossomed.
