Saw that this morning and was hoping it was a misprint. I fear it wasn't. Maybe my exile from watching England at International level will continue

Allardyce laughing at chico flores play acting is a favourite moment for me. I think he is the right man for the job.

Sam rang you?

Well Shrek is England captain and, if used right, still has some uses, so I wouldn't expect miracles immediately.

BFS will not shy away from dropping people, he wont be picking people based on wearing a red shirt, he wont mind throwing a few teacups around the dressing room at HT and upsetting anyone who is a bit precious. He's also quite good at tactics and getting the best out of players who - lets face it - aren't that good.

I can't see anything wrong with this appointment.

He will still be picking who he is told to pick in order to pay the Wembley debt. Fortunately, he probably has better ability to get a tune out of an old fiddle than our previous couple of managers, and could tempt me out of my self imposed viewing exile

But if Rooney is playing, like Nottsblue, I will still be abstaining

The fact that BFS didn't automatically state that Wiggy would be captain has warmed the cockles of my heart.

However, which of his team mates are going to vote otherwise?

I personally like Allardyce and I think over the years his work has been criminally under valued and under appreciated.

I have a feeling he's bluffed the FA. I reckon he not only readily agreed to a pay cut compared to Hodgson but also gave them the impression he's a 'yes' man.

He's looking at the bigger picture though. Now he's been appointed, the 'yes' man charade will be cast aside and he'll run England how he wants to and stick two fingers up to the FA. England's team on paper is much better than what your average fan believes due to so many years of mediocrity. If big Sam got us in the semi finals he'd be lauded as a hero.

If he does poorly with England he just joins another long list of failed England managers and he labels the job as a poisoned chalice and blames the FA.

It is pretty much a win win scenario and if he does even moderately ok with England lots more big job offers will be open for him in the future.

And this smiling Arabic assassin is intent on stealing all the treasures they've nicked off everyone else, and pulverising them into commercial and footballing oblivion as he does so."

Sam did actually ring me and he did ask me my opinion on how rooney could be utilised in the future..I told him at length what I thought and then after a short pause he put the phone down.
