Scottish football. Honestly?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Scottish football. Honestly?

Postby nottsblue » Tue Jul 12, 2016 7:44 pm

Just flicked on the TV and Celtic are losing to a team from Gibraltor in th CL qualifying.

Ten minutes to go. If they hold out, is this the nadir for Scottish football? And to think there are people who want this dross in the PL!

The magic of Bodgers strikes again

Wow.

The part timers from Gibraltor have won. Probably the equivalent of Wilmslow Albion beating the rags

They were very bad weren't they. They have got the bodgers bug, in stoppage time they are going out and still passing backwards and sideways. Totally shite.

No, it is two legs and Celtic will surely beat them at Parkhead.

But anyone other than Celtic fans in Jockoland will be laughing their cocks off tonight. This is as bad as it gets for Celtic and Rodgers

cracking day out that was though - summer after my gcse exams. game was against the village team in holland where i lived for a few years when i was a nipper. it was a warm up game prior to a triangular tournament in rotterdam. players and staff were so approachable back then.

brenda tactical genius. During his hype craze during the dipper days he talked about managing in spain, but he's ended up in scotland.
Still here.

The reaction to this game is typical BS.
He needs time just like any manager.
Judge him at the end of the season.

Celtic is a good fit for Rodgers. He can rebuild his reputation there.
He is a good manager who got caught up in the bin dippers hype and BS.
He made a mistake, made a total plonker of himself but he will learn from it.

My money says he will do a good job at Celtic and move to bigger and better postings.

Serious question. Define good job at celtic. It's difficult to get any kudos. Look how Lennon did and how he did when he left.

Rodgers is a fraud for my money. Rode on the back of Martinez's work at Swansea and got very lucky at dippers with Suarez and Sterling/Sturridge. Was found seriously wanting when Suarez left. He may win the league at Celtic, but realistically that is the bare minimum requirement at present. They will beat Gibraltor at Parkhead but make no mistake that Wednesdays result was an unmitigated disaster and it will come back to bite him in the future

If they beat Lincoln Red Imps at Parkhead, wouldn't that mitigate the result?

I think that although it would mean the result as a one off didn't ultimately matter as they would've progressed, it has put him in the spotlight immediately and not in a favourable way. When things get tough, that defeat will always be trotted out by Celtic fans and the fans of Rangers must have been pissing themselves. A bit like when the rags lost to Midgetland. They went through the tie but their reputation suffered as a result of the first leg loss

Patrick Roberts just scored to put Celtic 3-0 up in the 2nd leg after 30 minutes.
