Apparently Hart not even on the bench. Looks like the lawns will be getting mowed today!

Brother just told me there's a few people saying Hart was told he wasn't playing and has kicked off. Would love for it to be bollocks!!

For some reason it doesn't feel like the start of the season to me. We've had three(?) pre-season games of note, I'm unfamiliar with our signings (beside Gundogan and Stones), although that says more about me than them, and it seems that we haven't had the overhaul of our squad that many people on here believe we desperately need. I think it's the final of these that doesn't make it seem like 'football time' to me - I'm used to a few departures before we kick off, some expected and some unwanted, and it just hasn't happened yet. A deal for Bony and possibly Kolarov/A.N. Other would make everything click into place, I reckon.

there have been whispers since the season began, and it now appears he has well and truly spit his dummy. if he's too arrogant to take instruction, he can gtfo.

wouldn't blame you
would be a fucking joke if that bald clown started

I understand your point of view guys but even if he starts today, it doesn't necessarily mean that much. It can just mean that Hart's still a bit rusty from the break and needs to sit this one out because Willy's played in more pre season games.

I don't know though, just guessing.

Nothing to do with him being "rusty"..its more to do with him being shit in the Euros and having an attitude.

Hes going.

Strong rumours here in Manchester that Ter Stegen will be here this month.

If true it seems like something Bobby would do, and not Pep.

I would be amazed if Pep sees Willy as a better bet than Joe. Shirley that can't be true? On what planet could that possibly be right.

Well, if this is actually true some of us called this as soon as the Ter Stegen rumours first arose and were called crazy. Feel bad for him, but he just doesn't fit in what Pep wants to do.

Everton would be a good switch for him if he is to go somewhere.

That's also been rumoured.

Willy is marginally better than Joe with the ball at his feet, and has been practising with the team/system since preseason started. Not too surprising to me.

Really? Well, makes sense. With Howard's decline and exit after last season they were going to need a new keeper, and I heard they were interested in Schmeichel earlier in the summer.

I'm assuming you didn't see his hapless kicking game in the pre season? Honestly, it was scary. Just can't see this being true. If Pep doesn't fancy Joe then that won't just have happened. He would have had a replacement in by now instead of waiting until after the season kicks off and the Champs league qualifiers. That's just basic preparation.

I saw Willy's mistakes. They were scary, but that's because he was actually trying to play Pep's way. Joe is probably even worse at it but we didn't really see him play many of the same kind of short passes against Arsenal. He hoofed it up the pitch a few times as I recall which I don't think Willy did at all. He did take some very safe low, short passes, and threw the ball as well, but not the way Willy was passing into traffic.

I don't think Willy is necessarily good at distribution/passing either though. Bottom line is Pep likely didn't fancy Joe for obvious reasons, so it's then up to Joe to respond or be prepared to be sold. The latter seems more likely.
