Arsenal? Really? Why? They have cech

From Arsenals point of view. Their current goalie is 34. England's number one goalie comes on the market and is five years younger. They have a chance to make a top line signing which appeases the fans.

From Joe's point of view. He still gets CL. He still remains at a decent level PL club. He gets a better salary and more chance of silverware.

34 is old for a keeper and Cech is better than Joe

I think Joe is better than Cech myself

Valencia will transfer their Brazilian keeper Diego Alves to Barca in return for two very promising Barca youngsters. He's got an incredible record saving penalties; over 40%.

That's why I won't be sad to see him go.

This. His relationship with rags, snake moves during Mancini's tenure and shite distribution have never sat well with me.

If he genuinely loves the club, I feel for him, but such is life. Bye bye Joe.

I'm not ready for this move. Too much smoke for this to not happen IMO but I still have this dream where we get a new keeper, willy goes and Joe fights his way back but....

On another note, I think his next club will be below us (Everton or similar) but I could easily see him ending up at rags, bin dippers or arse within 2 years

It could easily be that this makes us better football team but it is hard to take as I do like him.

Always nice to see you back on here...even if it is only for a fleeting visit))

Agree with all the above and have said so millions of times....a true blue wouldnt spit on a munchen if he was on fire.
Neville is a fuckign rat but at least he was scum through and through and would never smile at a City player.....just how it should be.

Alright. At least I guess he gave a fuck enough to smash something. It's for sure shitty if true but hardly his worst offense.

Cheers

You know him more than anyone on here so I'll trust what you're saying mate.

That will be one of the main reasons people won't be as sad to see him leave though. If it wasn't for that kind of stuff that he did I'd be genuinely gutted to see him leave.

With this in mind I've a question for the older members of the board

How was Summerbee's relationship with Best perceived at the time? Was there an element of resentment amongst some Blues like there is with Hart?

No, there wasn't. Everyone basically thought they were a couple of cool dudes.

But there was a vital difference, on matchdays their friendship went on hold, and they became enemies. There would never have been any of the shit Hart gets up to.

But, I suppose in fairness to modern day footballers, players then were much, much closer to the fans, in fact were just working blokes who had struck it lucky.

Thanks Patrick.

FWIW I can see why people take exception to it although it never bothered me.
