Pep Shop Buys

Still two weeks to go in the transfer window. We have had a busy window and strengthened in a couple of areas. I just get the impression that we will look to move two or three on, possibly four if the right offers come in. If this is the case then I can see another player coming in. Hopefully a forward as foil for Aguero. Any suggestions? Or has all our incoming business been done?

Lewendowski or Abueumang or Sanchez or Suarez.

There is some ridiculous rumour that they spoke about on one of our fans' podcasts about how we supposedly were making a lot of progress with signing Alexis.

I mean, come on...no way do Arsenal sell at all right now. Complete fantasy land nonsense. He is not a backup anyway, he starts. So that hurts Sane, Sterling and Jesus's development.

We would be even more hated than ever if we managed that one right now as well.

Also, odd how loads of our fans want Nacho to get his chance this season, but I keep reading fans saying we need a 2nd striker to challenge Aguero. So now is Nacho not that or going to be that good? Jesus is also coming in January.

I seriously doubt we sign any more players for now except a keeper.

Even if Bony goes? I wouldn't like to think Kun and Iheanacho were our only outright strikers. I know we have players who can play across the forward line but scoring goals regularly is the hardest thing in football and I for one prefer to see a proper forward in there

Yes, because Jesus is coming in January.

We can get away with using KDB, Nolito, Sane or Sterling as the 3rd striker for a few months, as they are are capable of scoring or at least a threat to. Remember when we used Milner as an emergency false 9? We did reasonably well, and the others are all better at scoring from my POV.

If we sign a legit 3rd striker where is Jesus going to fit when he arrives? Too many spots for time on the pitch then.

That is fair comment about the places but I wouldn't expect Jesus to just fit right in come January. Iheanacho could well be off to the ACONs then as well for anything up to six weeks. Just hope Aguero stays fit. Using Milner as a false nine worked to a point but it is a situation we don't want to find ourselves in again. Remember just a few years ago we had four top level frontline strikers who all scored at least 20 goals each. There is plenty of game time to go round don't forget

Well, he can play anywhere in the front three positions and as you can see today is a real scorer. I think he will be a substitute to start, but he doesn't have to fit in right away unless we have some kind of striker injury crisis when he arrives. Even then I can see one of the others starting games and he get his chance as a sub still.

My point about Milner is also very much about how our other attacking players now, other than Silva and Navas, can all put the ball in the back of the net and we still managed to survive then. In other words, we are better off now. I think that's quite intentional as Pep cannot be naive about Kun's injury risk, but if we signed another big time striker now it hurts our young players development and I think that's important. KDB or Nolito could easily slot in as an emergency strikers as they are better than Milner at shooting and creating as far as I have observed.

If we signed Aubameyang I think we would not have signed Sane or maybe even Jesus. That ship has sailed. If Kun is out due to injury Nacho would get then his chance and that is supposedly something a lot of our fans would be happy to see I suspect.

I was asking you because I can't seem to recall many positive remarks from you since Mancini was fired. And I was curious if my impression was correct or not. And if it is correct that's fine by me, each to his own, just curious as I said.

Agree. It was terrible mate. I'm sure Pep let him know after the game and he will surely be punished if he does something like that again.

Ian must be allowed to flourish.
I'd even hang on to Bony as a third striker yo make sure this is possible whilst still having back up. Just in case.

We are in business to win. If we aren't going to buy players because it might hurt the "development" of others or upset them then we might as well all fuck off and watch a local youth team develop
