My heart did a little flutter when I saw Micah and joleon with Vinny. Quality.

All in all, can only really focus on a few things. Maffeo did a job but he does look green. Angelino looked confident and I was impressed with him. Tosin's passing looked a world away from some of the shite he was doing pre season but his decision making is questionable, a couple of times he let the ball bounce in dangerous situations. Kolarov. I think we've found a rather decent new role for him, continues to impress.

But we need to talk about yaya. There isn't a player we've got who can play those out of the hat passes that just open things up. But everything else about him, he just looked shot. Like he has absolutely no place in this new system. I cannot see him continuing with us, except for the odd (and it is odd these days) magical pass, the game just plays past him now.

Thank you for the wonderful memories mate. But it's time to bugger off.

Oh, one last thing. I'm annoyed by the commentators saying the fans were protesting when cheering hart. It's blindingly obvious that aye we'd love him to stay, but we back the manager. But we'll still show appreciation for all Joe's done. Protest my arse.

One decent cross to Delph. That was it.

Adarabioyo looked a downgrade on Stones and I normally like him too.

I really do like the look of Angelino though. Hard to shine tonight but didn't do himself any harm at all.

As in all cup competitions being in the draw for the next round is the most important thing. That's about the best I can say after that. We were through already in reality and you got the impression the players were saving themselves for the next match. A few of them will find out that is not good enough these days. Yaya, Fernando, Navas and to a degree Delph, won't be regular starters having not really grasped the nettle. I know Delph scored but he didn't really shine apart from a few touches and given the poor quality of the opponent I doubt it went unnoticed either by Pep.

Still we won again and a clean sheet is never a bad thing. We also have an extra days rest over West Ham who also have a much trickier tie tomorrow. Onwards to the next game

Irrelevant IMHO, pretty much a done deal before KO and still prime holiday season here in England and kids back to school very soon which means expense best spent on the kids, I've only got one lad and I'm down upwards of £350 for the new term!

Perhaps the papers might run with it anyway "poor turnout out for Hart farewell' the CUNTS

I'm with you on Navas, I really rate him and think he doesn't deserve all the shit he gets.
He did tonight though.

1-0. Take that. Not a great game but didn't expect it to be. Good to see the youngsters get some time. Hope Iheanacho's injury isn't serious.

Fairly dire game but interesting to see how we managed against a team who parked the bus and with most of our key attacking players missing. Also interesting to see how Pep might react when it wasn't going so well.

The players replacing Silva and KDB were not on the same planet. Even if Yaya or Delph got into good positions their first touches usually were not good enough and they were not progressive on receiving the ball. Yaya looked awful which is sad to see. Delph lots of energy and can do a job but not really in a creative role.

Maffeo I liked today. A couple of wobbly touches late in the first half but i thought he did great. Angelino playing in a more forward role must learn to curb his enthusiasm as he was running so far off side at times and didn't sem to realise it. Tosin did fine imo although I agree letting a couple of balls bounce isnt the way to go. He was quite good on the ball too but it did emphasise just how good John Stones is looking.

Kolarov has really found the right position for himself beacuse he doesn't have to run much. Excellent again tonight even if not up against a lot. I really hope Kelechi isn't seriously injured

Wouldn't argue with any of that except maybe to say I didn't see Angelino's youthful enthusiasm as the problem. I thought he was making very decent runs and always making himself available but the ball to him was either poor, over hit or in the case of the offsides, just released too slowly.
The slow build up was a familiar problem. The passing just wasn't quick enough, except for the goal.

after watching that boring match there were 2 very clear square pegs in round roles: Fernando and Yaya. can't see where they fit in.
wouldn't be surprised if Fernando was sold especially since he's not cup tied in the CL yet.

Aleks also looks like he can be Fernandinho's replacement in midfield when he's rested/injured.

wtf happened with that guy and Kelechi? it looked like he thought he needed to do CPR or hold Kelechi's mouth open so he didnt bite off his tongue during a seizure or something.

He walked out through the press area last night unaided apparently and looked fine. I hope he is OK but we have the international break after the weekend so it's a good time to get a knock if he needs some R&R.
