Pep on Kolarov

“I know he is a left back, but how he played against Sunderland and against Bucharest, it is hard to find a centre back better than him,” said Guardiola ahead of Sunday’s game against West Ham.

“He’s strong in the air, he passes between the lines or long balls to the other side for the right winger, so he has absolutely everything to play in that postion.

“I’m delighted. I spoke to (coaches) Mikel (Arteta) and Rodolfo (Borrell) and said ‘do you think he is able to play in that position?’

“It is not easy to find a centre back with a left foot like him.

“We are so convinced he has the quality to do that, to adjust.

“He is really strong in the air, a good professional and he can play there."

Well well well....

I know it's only a few games but he looks a different player in that role, didn't rate him that highly as a left back but fingers crossed this experiment works.

It bodes well for Angelino too.

Just think if we'd signed Laporte we may never have known .

ps I was going to start a thread on this when I read it earlier but I thought it was only right to let you have the honour Mase

Love the bloke, nearly as much as Mase. He gets slated for his defending but I always seen it as you can't have the best of both worlds, getting to the byline for a cross then as they break he should be defending the line.

Google to see Pep sees what I see ;-)

I think it's the most surprising thing about the pep reign so far. Many of us thought some players including joe, their days were numbered it was often discussed among fans. But nobody saw kola staying let alone a reincarnated as a centre back.

Kolarov: "Playing with wolves always helped me in that position, I am the leader of the wolf pack, always was, always will. Also I want to send a special thanks to the user called Mase who always believed in me and in the Serbian flag. That is all".

said the Man City player for Skysports.

Is Kolarov first choice now? I can't imagine with all the centrehalves fit that he'd still be playing.

From 1st on the chopping block to 1st choice. Let's hope he keeps it up, he has at least one more Xmas carol in him.

Tall so he can win some headers, can pass. But omg he has no idea about defending space or recovering from being caught out. We'll get raped if he plays CB against any quality.

This makes him sound almost as though, in his nocturnal reverie, he has aspirations to be a World War II U-Boat commander.

Nice one Mase.

Funny that, because he's made a few last ditch tackles to save us.

By quality who do you mean? Because he faces Aguero in training every day. Who is better?
