Shirt grabbing and Manager comments.

Postby carl_feedthegoat » Sat Aug 27, 2016 11:01 am

This is going to cause a lot of anger as some managers will not follow suit like "Look at me, Im on telly" DEAN has done.

PREMIER LEAGUE MANAGERS HAVE THEIR SAY ON GRAPPLING IN THE PENALTY AREA
Sportsmail asked a host of top Premier League managers about shirt-pulling ahead of this weekends fixtures:

ARSENE WENGER (Arsenal)
'We discussed shirt-pulling not only with the players but with the referees. What I see more and more is the position of the referees. Many times they are in the way of the pass because they want to be too close to the ball.
'The difficulty on corners is sometimes you have three different fouls and the referee has to choose the most obvious one. Only when you watch a game in slow motion can you see that there were two or three other fouls on the corner.'

JOSE MOURINHO (Man Utd)
'My problem with new rules is always consistency. If the penalty that favours Manchester City is always a penalty for every team, fine. The only problem is if it's a penalty for Manhester City and not a penalty for Watford.' (FUCK OFF YOU OBSESSED CUNT)

PEP GUARDIOLA (Man City)
'Referees came and spoke to the players about the rules but we'll speak to them again tomorrow. I don't know if it's happening more often but we must be aware of what happened at Stoke and be careful.'

SLAVEN BILIC (West Ham)
'It (shirt pulling in the area) has to stop. It was a good decision taken by the referees to be consistent.
'I don't think it's going to be that extreme like in the Stoke game, but last year there was a bit too much grabbing. I don't think the crowd want to see it totally stopped — it's not ballet.'

DAVID MOYES (Sunderland)
'We've definitely had to reassess how we defend at corners. I think if you pull somebody's jersey in the area, it's a penalty.
'We're seeing a lot now of what you might term "cupping" — you're nearly hugging your man and saying "sorry you can't move". For me, that's a penalty.'

TONY PULIS (West Brom)
'I've always believed in man-to-man marking but I'm wondering if we need to switch to a zonal system. It's something I'll be looking at in the next few weeks.'

ANTONIO CONTE (Chelsea)
'Before the season referees came and explained. It's good. It's important to respect always the referee and the new rules.'
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

And was actually pushed first by Shawcross, who in his post-match interview didn't think it was a pen either. Dean is a limelight hogging prick

This is the issue. The directive is that the players are spoken to first before giving the decision. If it continues then the penalty is given. The commentators have gone on and on about it this game but what they fail to mention is that the referee blew/was in the process of blowing when the ball came in meaning that the ball wasn't actually in play, so no foul.

The ref got it right for me.

Funny that Pep and Conte have the best quotes of that lot. Newcomers get it.

That penno was just to even things up, as Deano didn't give Stoke a penalty earlier when he should have.
He obviously saw the replay at H/T, so it was inevitable that any excuse would do.

Bilic comment made me chuckle. I mean as a player I'd say he spent more time hanging onto someones shirt than not. He is a good coach but people have forgotten whata ruthless (but talented) player he was.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?
