So its still Shrek then. I had hoped BFS would take this opportunity to get rid. He even has the gall to say he will call it a day after the next World cup. How the fuck does he know he will even be good to be picked by then?

Thats my self imposed England exile continuing for the forseeable future

You certainly won't be missing much NB.

It would seem that there's no conceivable end in sight to the perpetual dross that the England team have been serving up for some time now.

It's almost as if it has become 'de facto' institutionalised.

Sam was doing okay till then; still I don't suppose he can get rid of all the media darlings at once.

And that's the crux of it. BFS would have been crucified by the media for dropping Shrek, as well as not having a say in the first place by the sponsors.

Shit news that he hasn't been dropped but understandable. He may have an ugly mush but he is the face of England football, whatever we may think.

As a captain/leader though, what has he proved? For me he is neither a captain or leader and doesn't have the whereabouts to motivate the players when things go wrong. He has proved he isn't up to the job, just look at the last Euros so why are things different now. We will do exactly the same thing as last time, facing minnow opposition, looking good and then lose to any team with a bit of bollox.

It's not that we've got shit players, it's more that we are mentally weak.

No objections to him being the squad captain as he is the most experienced player (do Italy not just automatically give it to the most capped player to remove the circus?).

I just hope it doesn't mean he's an automatic pick and only plays on merit and form.

Hopefully BFS just kept him in place to remove a load of press going on.

The reason Brian Clough never got the job was because he would pick a team not the fuckin sponsors or media.

Sam Bassett - England Manager.

Will he play 4-4-2?

Nailed on, with Vardy probably being one of the front two.

The ball will probably spend more time in the air than the clouds outside my window.

It probably won't be long before BFS drops him from the squad completely; he plays too much football.

Lets not forget about two or three weeks ago BFS told us he would teach Stones how to defend.

England bullshit nothing ever changes until the dinosaurs are kicked out at the FA, as for the team fuck all will change because of the amount of shirts some players sell.

It's going to be a mighty culture shock for the likes of Sterling and Stones; going from the varied diet of Pep's cultured and imaginative tutelage to BFS 's neanderthal way of playing and thinking.

Stones in particular is going to get a rough ride from the man with the masticating mandibles, the gum chewing Mr Route 1 himself, for not playing it long and trying to find Vardy's head at every opportunity.

Could be worse - it could still be Woy in charge. Senile old buffer.

I think Fat Sam is the exact perfect fit for England. I just wish sterling and stones weren't involved and i'm afraid it will cause them to regress.
