Why is this joker still playing for us?
Slow, can't read the game, can't keep the ball, can't pass, has the touch of a rapist. Basically zero attributes to keep him in the squad.
I know someone has made the mistake of signing him and we need to pay him wages but it doesn't mean we have to play him.

I'd sooner see a young lad given a go.

Exactly. I don't believe it for a second Aleix Garcia for example would have done any worse. Quite the opposite actually

He's simply not comfortable enough on the ball, for him to fit into a Pep style team.
Garcia may not have his physical presence, but I would bet he could link play and hold possession 10 times better.

Yep. We wouldn't have done worse playing with ten men by the sounds of it

We went to a lot of trouble and expense to acquire the Octopus over two windows. You will recall his contract was extended with a higher release clause just before we signed him at the newly inflated price. Questions should be asked and answered why Txiki got it so wrong with him and Mangala. Nowhere near the level we needed then and light years away now. Don't get me started on Delph either.

The Mangala signing was very strange. We have done some terrible business over the last couple of years.

I think some of the critics are harsh.
Imho, Fernando is one excelent player to have when we need to defend or try to close down our opponent, but I agree, you cannot depend on him when you need to win, he is limited, but some excelent player to have in the squad. Look how good he came in when we played the rags last month. We keep forgeting that while Yaya is awol, Delph is a big flop. He will never be fit, in a few years he will sign for MOTD and host along side Jermain Jenas.
So, Fernando si the best worst player we have at the moment. Remember Javi Garcia and the critics he had because of his offensive display, but was huge in the back in the last part of the our last title.

Harsh but sadly correct PP. Fernando is in no sense of the word an 'excellent' player. He is a journeyman DM who is consistently outperformed by his equivalent in virtually every other team in the league (rags excepted obviously

)

Go on JC, get started and give it a go.
We all need cheering up and, at times, you can be entertaining in full flow.

I think this type of player is a modern "signature" of City, from Hamann, Fernandes, MVF, Garcia, even Paddy. Not as good as many of those, but needed.
Let him stay there.
