What does "Gundogan" actually do?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Am i the only one who thinks Gumdogan has been playing well. Carries the ball very well. Two excellent quick feet. Always has his head up looking for a man. If its on he drives forward, if not he will turn back and keep possession. He is just getting used to where his teammates are around him. Once he settles into that familarity and works on his finishing, he will be has effective as yaya was for us over the last 5 years

He had a quieter game but he is improving. A very tidy player who hopefully will become capable of more. To me Saturday highlighted our main difficulty(apart from the cup for cockups) and that is we are weak and weedy. Romeleu, the worst technical player on the pitch dominated the game, kicked Kev out of it and made sure we didn't break through midfield without a battle. Pep doesn't seem interested in this type of player if current transfer rumours are to be believed. He may even have been behind Barry's being sold which would be a tad frightening if true. The Premier league is what it is and these players give us a hard time.

I'll break it down nice and simple for some of you:

Has our play slowed down (for whatever reason including he's just coming back from a long injury) - Yes

Since he's been starting has our system changed - Yes

Are the basic fuck ups that individuals are making that are costing goals Gundogan's fault - No

Is he a quality player - Yes

You can't argue that our attacking play has slowed down since he's come in.

This.

And this:

He's a good player but neither he - nor Fernandinho for that matter - are helped by an over-congested six-man midfield, a system none of our lads are used to, except perhaps Silva who has played it a little bit for Spain.

Thank you lads for saving me the time to type that.

Not all critical discussion is spoiled or knee jerk.

I think the main issue short term is that nolito had to make way. He reallly made things click imo.

Don't think Nolito making way had anything to with Gundogan's inclusion mate. Sanè has started the last two league games ahead of him.

On Gundogan, he hasn't hit his straps, he's not effecting games as well as he's capable of but I also think it's fair to say that Fernandinho and Silva's performance levels have dropped recently too and that ain't helping in the centre of the park.

2 goals, what more to say?

There is more to say. This guy can be our new Yaya, playing the game but at a more higher tempo. How old is this lad, 26-27 years old?

More than happy with him. Takes a while to integrate, he's just showing for the future.

Nolito is class. Unknown to me when he came in the summer, but I think he's going to be useful for the next few years.

Nolitos interplay is class but his temperament is questionable. Some smart blocks from a WBA perspective as well. :(

Gundo is class. He tires at about 70 mins though. Gotta be careful with better oppo.

I think that he will be a real asset next season after having had a full season to acclimatise to the rigours of the Premier League.

Two Stellas watching the game in Kennedys Bar with the hundreds of City fans ( well 2 of us really, the rest were asylum seekers coming in out of the cold , sharing a coke between them)

Followed by one glass of a light red Swiss red wine with home made pizza .Highly recommended!
