He was useless for us but a shame we couldn't fit Boatang into our system as a CB. Would have been an amazing long term partner for Stones and probably saved us from signing the mangeler and being over reliant on Komps calfs

I reckon some will disagree but I was sorry to see Sibierski go as well

Antoine Sibierski??? WTF???
That guy was terrible even by our standards back then. Happy to see the back of him.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

You would have to think Biateng was the ultimate answer for this question considering how his career has turned out. Having said that, he was so terrible and out of place for us for whatever reason that henwould have never turned into the plywe he is now withnus.

In the right team and system he does well.
I still don't consider Boateng as a good defender though.
You attack the centre of Bayerns defence and they don't know what to do.
My opinion.

He doesn't stand out as one of the best defenders, but the fact that he can become a part of a team that good is impressive.

I understand what you mean.
I do think he could have done better under Pep, but as a defender he wouldn't be top of my wish list. He's as suspect as anything we have.

True. Could have done us for another two seasons. He was v good for Everton for the first two he was there so he still had it in him.

Barry stayed a season too long. He was fucked in his last season with us.

Sorry, Barry was good for us, but he was not good enough anymore when we moved him on, particularly as we were getting killed for pace. Imagine he in a 2 man midfield as he declined more with Yaya (still pretty much a top dog).

Not possible.

We replaced him with Fernandinho, and went younger with Fernando, who also has more pace, as our squad player to switch. We have been old enough.

Good for Everton, not us. Sorry, this seems like nostalgia talking...

Barry was replaced by both garcia and frnando snd even now at 40 hes better and would offer more than both.

Probably one of the most underrated players for us for the past twenty years.
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great call JC.

I saw quite a few of his games for Wolves in the early 1970s and he always created loads of chances for Hugh Curran and Bobby Gould, in the middle up front, to 'feed' on. A very fine player with a beautiful left foot.....to just imagine him playing in that 67/68 side, instead of Tony Coleman, is mind boggling.

Another player, with a superb left foot albeit developing into a different role, was the one and only Neil Young and it broke my heart when we let him go. I know he was in the veteran stage of his career but he was my favourite City player of that period and it really knocked me sideways when he left.

By then his music career was taking off MC.
He did quite well for himself and prolonged his professional life by changing career.
