Who disagreed with you though? There are people here who when they disagree with you should always give you more confidence that you are right. I bet you are talking about some of those people.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

You said there was no workrate though.

We've already established that was completely wrong.

There are definite problems however

work rate was there but they didn't know what they were supposed to be doing
It may be my last year as a season ticket holder as it just doesn't seem the same with so few English and local players (but I said that last year)

Hate to say it but Nidge is right, we are spineless.
The spine of our title winning team is gone and hasn't been adequately replaced.
Hart. Strong character. decent shot stopper. (I won't debate the rest)
Kompany. Strong character and leader. Our best defender. Has been more or less gone for the last year and a half.
Yaya. Legs have been gone for the last two years. We can't replace what he used to give us.
Aguero. Despite his goal tally, I think it masks the fact that it should be double that. He's been off for the last year, but we still don't have a replacement for when he's missing.

These were all big game players. Add to that the other leaders like Zabba are past it. We have no spine and also no leaders so yes we can appear spineless, in Nidge's sense of the word too.
We have youngster waiting in the wings that are not trusted to step into their natural positions that they have been bred for. Instead we use an aging squad and play them in positions that they are unfamiliar with.

Pep's a genius though.
I've not lost faith yet, but I'm back where I started before the season started, when I predicted he would have his work cut out to sort this squad out.

If he doesn't want leaders on field and in the dressing room, then he needs a change of personnel, because this lot don't have the football smarts or technical ability to do and be what he wants them to be.

It's very simple. Tonight we were totally inept. I was embarrassed that we scored twice, we didn't deserve it. In the first 15 mins zabs appeared at right back, right wing, centre midfield and left back. That tells you all you need to know. We then take off our only striker who has the best goals to mins on the pitch ratio in the league. Tonight was a fucking shambles and the manager is 100% culpable I can't believe what I've just seen. A mixture of anger but also find myself laughing strangely enough and I'm not sure why. At least the guest ale in my local was the best it's been for months - but scant consolation. Pep get a fucking grip and quickly!!!

Hate to say it......

But I am not convinced Iheanacho can be used as a sole forward. He just doesn't have the tactical nous to lead the line on his own, is constantly offside or doesn't time his runs right. He isn't strong enough to hold up the play. He is much better suited as foil to the striker IMO. How we have gone from having the four pronged strike force together with a twenty goal midfielder to what we have now is nothing short of scandalous.

Do not get me wrong, I think Iheanacho has a big part to play for us both this season and in subsequent campaigns. I just think we are not as good as a unit offensively with him as the focal point

So in summary we cant play a formation that enables a centre forward with the best goals to minutes ratio in the league to continue to do what he is proven at.

It doesn't sound good from the managers perspective does it.

No it doesn't. But that is what can happen when a manager doesn't adapt to the situation. Gary Linekar, Ian Rush, Jimmy Greaves, Denis Law probably scored 1000 goals between them but I wouldn't have any of those playing up front on his own. Just because a striker scores goals doesn't mean he can do it in any team or formation, especially someone as young as Iheanacho.

It's certainly a conundrum I hope a Pep is going to ponder on over the week as if we play like we did today next weekend, Arsenal will have a field day and we will come up short again.

Spot on. And that's why so many of us, especially over a certain age, are so disillusioned with the game. Can't imagine many of those that played last night (Zaba probably excepted) feeling the way that we supporters do right now. It's all gone and consigned to history for them and they are probably indulging in the horribly lavish lifestyle that the game affords them.

They don't need to love manchester. It is also a job to the players of bayern, real, barca, chelsea ...

I know there's problems but stating the above as the main problem is just bizarre.

I actually agree with OD on this one. Professional footballers rarely actually give a shit about their club. Sure they tweet their eternal love but it's really just their profession. I'm sure many of them are football supporters as well but logically most of them support clubs they grew up supporting like the rest of us.

Having said all that, they are paid to give their absolute everything for 90 minutes weekly or biweekly and right now most of them are failing that duty.

Getting used to my beloved football team being utterly shit with the worst defence I have ever possibly witnessed in my life time and not one leader on the pitch despite our ridiculous wealth and spending power has now become worst nightmare reality . Watford midweek at the Etihad has now become our biggest game in a long long time , it could get very very ugly !!!
Not really here

Nige didn't say they had to support City though. So where's that come from? He's saying they just have to give a shit about the club, which is what you've stated in your last paragraph.

So basically you're agreeing with NT. You've literally just re-wrote what he said but kept the meaning the same...

He said "our City means fuck all to them" which is the case with just about wvery professional footballer who hasn't come through the ranks.

That's absolute bollocks and you know it!!

Hart, Zaba, Silva...going back Weaver, Andy Morrison, Dickov to name a few that didn't come through our ranks. They love the club.

Which academy did Goater come through? Who do you think he supports now?!

Who's to say that just because you come through the ranks of a club that means you give a shit more than if you don't? Duncan Ferguson - what tattoo has he got on him and what academy did he come through?

What Nige is saying is that most of those players don't give a shit about Manchester City. You don't have to come through our academy to give a shit about pulling on the shirt!
