Not surprising but I'm hoping for a surprise that Walker isn't done, despite his other predictions.

I can see what you mean.... i have doubts about both him as a person and a player.

Who would you prefer as right back? And what do we do about back up or competition? I would be happy with Walker as back up to a world class full back - don't know who! - but he would be very expensive.

for me definitely Bellerin, who also qualifies as home-grown, with back up from Fabinho, although he would be a midfield first choice in most games.
Maybe after the chavs win the cup ;)

can only be Mbappe or Neymar if it happens

Crikey JC, I would love taking a possible risk on Mbappe but Neymar is a different kettle of fish altogether. Phew; that really is an earth shattering, mouth watering proposition .........and he might even cost more than Pogba !!??

Can we realistically afford him, given the ever lurking presence and possible renaissance of FFP ?? On the other hand, would it be typical of us to be going for both ??

I don't think I'll be feeling like sleeping tonight now.

There isn't a player on the planet who we can't afford

Freshie, I'm not trying to start a row, and what you say is true, but that comment came over very raggish.
Or is it just me?

Raggish? Nice one

I was merely stating a fact

Both right here for me. As a statement of fact, it is absolutely true - ish!

If you look at the best player in the world in every position and gave them an average transfer fee of 60/70 million, we wouldn't be able to go out and buy the lot in one go as under Financial foul Play, we wouldn't be able.

Even we have monetary restrictions!

In times gone by, Unit$d had way more money than us and in principle, it never really upset me. What did annoy me though was the attitude that came with it, that because they were richer, they felt they were better than us. Now that we have the money, I hope I never get accused of that attitude.

We ARE better than unit$d - but it is nothing to do with money.

With all the noise that went on I thought Fabinho would be our first signing. All gone a little quiet on him now.
Wonder if it will still happen as he looks a real handy player, with the added bonus of being able to play different positions

Bellerin would be a good shout but the Fail is saying that he will be staying...

I suppose a Chelsea win might further destabilise Arsenal and that as such, Bellerin and Sanchez (surely not!!) Might be more likely to want to jump ship. But part of me would love an Arsenal win as that mean Wenger stays for another season... plus the fact that I have a bet on them!

The highest scoring team in Europe, the team that knocked us out of the Chumps League. There's enough in their well for us to do a bit of digging.

I thought Mendy looked like just the player we needed. Tall, dynamic and plenty of pace. I hope he comes and does well.

Perhaps a few of our own promoted to the squad.

Jonny crosson the Monaco team nicknamed Silva bubblegum cos the ball always stuck to him, so I guess it's something to do with that .

Not all British, we need more English or Welsh players. The regulations are that the 25 man squad (over 21 in the case of the PL) must contain 8 England & Wales Association trained players. In the case of the CL, 4 of the 8 must be club trained - i.e. registered for 3 years before 21 and effectively the CL criteria prevail. So we currently only have Sterling, Stones and Delph, Clichy was eligible but he's gone. The only club trained players over 21 at the start of next season are Gunn and Denayer and the only first team squad under 21 eligible for the UEFA B list is Iheanacho. U21s not on the B list are Jesus, Garcia and Roberts etc. They would have to be part of the 17 man free list along with all the other foreign trained players for the CL but are part of the unlimited number of U21s allowed in the PL.

I'm surprised it was Fulham that had a statue of him and not West Ham.
