The great worry is that this hearing might be already pre-determined and it's a matter of 'when' Velez win their case, rather than 'if'. I don't know about all this but, should it come to pass, is there really a possibility that Pep might walk ??

Heaven knows where that would leave us.

I believe we anticipated this, hence why we will look to sign so many players this window.

This one is already open so will ban us the winter and next summer.

It is reassuring in one way but, if sellers then know we are desperate to make our signings in this one window, we could get held to ransom, even more than we already do, with the prices we will have to pay.

Pretty sure this reared its ugly head a short time ago and somebody referenced another club in similar situation and it only affects the academy rather first team? May be I'm clutching at straws, I hope so!

We are well equipped to handle this problem, particularly if this summer goes in the direction it seems to be.

Until the registration ban is official (remember, not really a transfer ban) it does not mean too much.

Maybe current selling clubs can bring this up in negotiations, but I think we are already well on our way to signing proven players for the positions of need that will be here well and be given more than a season to get their chance. We have already added two key players for the future and now (Bernardo & Ederson) who we made moves for this summer perhaps also because we know next summer they won't be available and we might not be able to sign them. We used a similar philosophy, and risk assessment by being in for Sane and Jesus last summer, lest we forget, (costing us this past season as well by not signing defenders, I know) yet this time it's also about the possible ban (and was Tixi also anticipating this then...hmmm).

If selling clubs hold us to a randsom...I say, "Who cares?" Okay, we would not be able to spend next summer. The media will go crazy with articles talking about how will we survive without spending...blah blah blah. Nice try, except we seem to be looking at spending in the £150m-300m range, mostly because we have big needs for Pep (now) and were getting old. Unless we are talking about paying double the asking price for a player than we already expect, it genuinely will not be a huge problem. It might also allow us to develop the current (and new) players we've added for a season and a half, at least, which is what all those who clamour for development of youth would ask for, no?

We have quite a few young-ish players currently in the first team who we are expecting to become key players for us in the near future (Sane, Jesus, Sterling, Stones, Bernardo, Ederson), as well as players on loan or expected to go this season who could get a better chance if someone falters, and there is slightly less competition for one summer if we can't register anyone. I'm thinking Garcia, Denayer, Zinchenko, Maffeo, Gunn, Roberts, Fode, Diaz, Sancho, etc.

So, actually this could lead all of the loudest critics of lack of "youth development" to see a shift in the direction towards their interests for at least a season, and then get some assessment of where those players are as others age out.

FIFA okayed the Garré deal. Doesn't really put them in a strong position to sanction us.

Hope you're right PD.

Trouble is, the only consistent aspect of FIFA is their inconsistency.

Excellent news, is it a feeling in your vitals or something more tangible you can share? Real, Atletico & Barca fans probably felt the same before those clubs got the treatment.

WBA about to Jay Rodriguez from Soton for only 12M plus bonuses. I remember before his injuries when Spurs wanted him he was worth so much more.
