Vincent Kompany is back in contention for Manchester City ahead of the Premier League trip to Goodison Park.

Leroy Sane is also available, with midfielder Fernando the only doubt. Fernandinho will serve the second game of a four-match ban.

Kevin De Bruyne has been ill in the week but has recovered and should be fit for selection.

Ahead of the match boss Pep Guardiola tried to ease the expectation on Kompany, after a series of injuries have disrupted the Belgian's playing time.

He said: "It's the second or third time we are talking about that (Kompany's recovery).

"Hopefully he can stay for long and after I will see his level. We cannot deny how good he is at his top level.

"But everyone needs time when they have been injured for a long time. He has strong mentality and he knows what he has to do.

"He can concentrate on simple things, playing as a central defender, then game by game, week by week, he will achieve his level.

"Sometimes you need time, in this business we don’t have time, but he has to feel that he has time to come back, the way he has to come back."

Guardiola also confirmed that striker Gabriel Jesus is not eligible to play in the game.

Kompany has not featured since injuring his knee against Crystal Palace in November, Fernando has been out since the Boxing Day win over Hull, while Sane hasn't featured since the win over Arsenal.

I wonder is there some ridiculous outside chance that the Jesus signing doesnt go through this window due to whatever cock up was made?

Has he even trained yet?

He's been training all week.

Pep:

"He has made two training sessions -- this afternoon [Thursday] he will make his first training session with the team."

Has there been a cock up?

Al Mubarak has been quoted saying what we already know, they aren't in any hurry to rush him in to squad. They simply want him to feel at home in his new surroundings, simply don't want any pressure on him

Guess we'll just have to be patient

It won't be an easy thing for our talismatic centre-back to do, but it's the only way of him being possibly available for us, on a more consistent basis.

A fit Vincent Kompany at the 'run-in' stage of the season might galvanise the defence, as well as the rest of the side and make all the difference to us.

Warning Kompany not to try taking out Bravo again.

He does it everytime. Extremely comfy performances followed by one lapse of concentration leading to an injury attempting to recover.

So he's to give a few weeks and then over do it?

Pretty confident going into this.

The Jesus sitch is a strange one, but I won't get worried just yet...

Love to see Vinny get a half hour when we're comfortably ahead.

And sane get some game time.

Bring it on!

Not how I would read it. Don't think it's possible to coast at Prem level.

I'd love it if my boss told me to play with myself for a couple of weeks
