Make football hooliganism a sport

As Igor Lebedev is not just the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) parliamentary group of the Russian State Duma and the LDPR Youth Organization, a deputy speaker of the State Duma, and a member of the State Duma's Committee on Budget Issues and Taxes, but also on the board of the Russian Football Union, one can perhaps assume this was not a tongue in cheek proposal.

My personal opinion is that if a bunch of hooligans want to meet up in a field, out of the way of other supporters and the general public, to have a fight, then let them do it. If each club had some kind of 'unofficial hooligan zone' like this, it would get rid of a fair few problems surrounding hooliganism in some countries.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is how the Netherlands sorted out most of its problem in the '90s.

No problem with that at all, once the only people there are those that want to be there, they all know the risks that they are taking let them at it away from normal fans who just want to watch the match.

I doubt it mate. The chairman of the Russian FA was on the pitch with the hooligans and the President of Russia wrestles bears and goes topless in the snow to show everyone how tough he is.

No problem with this as long as when someone is on the floor with his head caved in , unless they have personal medical coverage and not state sponsored , they should receive ZERO medical attention in the aftermath.

No problem with this as long as when someone is on the floor with his head caved in , unless they have personal medical coverage and not state sponsored , they should receive ZERO medical attention in the aftermath.

The NHS is under enough strain without being expected to pick up the pieces (literally) from something like this. If they get private medical cover (maybe BUPA could sponsor it - ok that was a joke, but...) they could do it.

Batshit idea. I wouldn't go near Russia for the World Cup. You can see where this kind of idea is leading.

Particularly if you're British, I think you'd be off your head to go there, you will be ambushed and it will be allowed to happen.
