Saw this picture of him yesterday in regards to an incident at the Ace Hotel in London.

He is 49 years old, looks like he's in his 80's.

Here's a LINK to the article for those interested.

Every time I see a story about him these days I always assume he's died. A very sad end to his life

The same press that hound and humiliate him now will be the ones leading the glowing obituaries when he finally passes.

Great player, but sounds like a bit of an arsehole by all accounts. Granted, his mental health problems wouldn't have helped but that doesn't defend domestic abuse and racism

even if he were a complete stranger you'd spot him as a drinker from a mile away.

We shouldn't judge Paul at all. That goal against the Jocks in Euro 96 lives long in the memory and he was a great midfielder.

I've read articles that say he has ADHD which is a serious mainly genetic mental health problem.

If thats the case, a transition away from a football career is a mountain to climb. :(

Former England footballer Paul Gascoigne has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman on board a train in August.

The 51-year-old former England international was arrested at Durham station on August 20 and on Monday British Transport Police confirmed that he had been charged with one count of sexual assault by touching.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "A man is due to appear in court next month charged in connection with the sexual assault of a woman on board a train from York to Durham.

"Paul Gascoigne, of Amy Street, Leicester, was charged via postal requisition with one count of sexual assault by touching, contrary to Section 3 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

"The charge relates to an incident on board a train on August 20 this year."

Gascoigne, who played for Newcastle, Tottenham, Lazio and Rangers, will appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court on December 11.

He was due to be inducted into the Scottish Football Hall of Fame last month but the invite was withdrawn over concerns for his health.

Gascoigne was regarded as one of the most talented English midfielders of his generation, winning 57 caps, but he has battled alcoholism since retiring in 2004.

The Gateshead-born midfielder was a key player for England at both the 1990 World Cup and 1996 European Championship as the team reached the semi-finals of both tournaments.

I had to sack a best mate that ive known for 33 years due to alcoholism....cannot be relied upon and you just end up depressed trying to make them better when you know they never will be.

Everyone chooses their paths in life, as far as habits like alcohol are concerned.
