Iheanacho Gone!

Thought it deserved a thread of its own. Seems there are a host of clubs lining up for his signature (at around £20 million). https://www.footballfancast.com/transfe ... ho-to-join Not sure I'd sell him outright and would rather see him out on loan for a season. Still, if we're going to sell him it seems to me (in the current market) that £20 million is chicken feed.

It would be a bad move letting such a good young player go.

A loan to the likes of Newcastle would be a good move for him if he's not in Pep's plans at present.

Sell him with a good buy back clause, and I'm happy. He needs game time, which he won't get under Pep (square peg in a round hole). If he develops his game - or if we change our footballing philosophy - we can get him back.

Agree with this.

he was a big disappointment for me this season. expected him to move up a level but instead he's regressed. and he did get opportunities early on.

We have a record of bad transactions when it comes to selling.

I would loan him. If we sell him, then we are really out of our minds. He is one of the most interesting youths in the league and the first from our new academy that reached a level.

Plus, HE SCORED IN THE SWAMP.

We need to be really, REALLY smart about this

He's not really from our academy, though. He's very young, but he was more or less bought for the first team squad. Likewise, I wouldn't call Unal a product of the academy, since he went straight on loan.

Nacho had zero chance of getting into our first team as hes just not a pep player....hes not or ever will be.

Good luck to the lad..at least we will make a fuckign profit for the first time since 1909

I think there will pass a few years since anyone will come through our academy that was signed somewhere between 12-15. I would want that, but I don't think it is possible. Sadly, football changed so much

Don't Barca and Real sell players with a buy back clause. We need to do that more often.

I'd go with Green & Blue here, the lower half of Prem would bite our hands off for a season loan IMO, I'm thinking Lukako here, 23? Banging them in, seems to have been around the Prem for years out on loan before being sold and chelski rumoured to now looking at buying back (via clause).

If the current manager doesn't see him fitting in AND nacho flourishes, we change manager, we won't be in a rags/pogba situation?

For the record i'd like to think he's staying, OK he's not been great this season... A mixture of not many starts, his age, second season syndrome, not a pep player and so on....

20m for a player we don't play, that's United money there. Buy back clause and take it I say. Sad to see him go, bit another year like that will halve the price.

if we can get 20M or more then definitely sell him, but put in a good buyback clause.

as long as Pep is at the club I can't see Nacho getting time.

Loan him to a Premier team with a 20 mil buy clause, he scores goals v our rivals which will help us win the league.

Why does this borderline racist joke always make me laugh?

Anyways, selling him outright would be fucking stupid beyond belief. IHEANACHO IS 20 YEARS OLD. I don't give a shit if he had "down year" or was struggling to learn Pep's fairly soohisticated system. He was tactically very raw to begin with. Making stupid runs and being completely unable to conservate his energy. HOWEVER, he has four things that can't be taught at adult age anymore: pace, natural eye for goal, spatial awareness and good first touch for a striker.I sometimes wonder how much people understand raw talent and what can and what can not be taught to adult player.

He is the kind of player that needs WORK. He has enough talent to make it but needs help as does any 20 year old. He already has 48 apps and 12 goals for us, both amazing tallies, and they weren't by accident. The main things he lack are all the kind GOOD COACHES AND MANAGER can teach: off the ball movement, timing his runs, tactical eye (when to press, when not to press, when to drop, when to spread the ball and when to dribble), upper body strength.

I agree. Loan deals seem to have turned into value dumps more often than not in the last couple of years.

The weird thing about Nacho for me is that he never was able to transfer his playmaking and general all-round play from the youth setup (EDS, but also Nigeria) to the first team. Apart from his fantastic goal record, he always seemed kind of sluggish to me.
