Dead balls

Postby kinsey » Sat May 27, 2017 9:41 am

Over the last few years, we have become spoiled with the number of great free kicks we have seen from the likes of Yaya and Kolarov - although that one from Tevez against Stoke is still a personal favourite.

Looking at the new generation, we are really lucky to have Our Kev when it comes to swinging it into the box and he is also a direct threat of course.

But who else is there? Does anyone know what kimd of delivery Silva 2 is likely to offer us?

What about are reported targets? Are the likes of Fabinho and Mendy dead ball specialists?

Tarnat now he could hit a dead ball - KDB knocked that cheeky one in under the wall when they all jumped (Stoke?) so he has the skills. I somehow cannot see a dead ball specialist being amongst Pep's must have lists - in short I haven't got a clue whether the named players are dead ball specialists but I have a nagging feeling they aren't

Me too!

But when you have a load of tricky pacy players, you would have to imagine that we should get our fair share of shooting opportunities around the box.

In the expectation that the likes of Kolarov and Yaya are likely to have less time on the pitch even if they stay, then I hope we can find someone who will fill their boots in that respect.

:D ha!

Unconnected but reminded me that i was at the City Vets game last Saturday at Edgeley Park and the best bit was the super John Gwynne providing a running commentary over the Tannoy... at one point, he was praising a pass from someone... "what a great ball! A wonderful, beautiful ball that! You can get one similar for £50 from the Club shop!"

The best line was when he was talking about Paul Walsh after a great piece is skill "Paul Walsh, what a player - 70 odd games for City and a few dozen goals. People sometimes forget that he was a great player for Liverpool and Spurs too. He won 5 England Caps and we all know, that would have been a lot more... if only he were a better player!"

That tevez free kick is one of the greatest the premier league has ever seen.

They don't show it funny enough.

And when elano scored that belter against newcastle, it was hidden behind ronaldo's for some reason.

I love a good dead ball strike so hopefully we have one on the way

Might want to practise them in training, especially corners. The number of times the first man is hit or it sails over everybody is scandalous. For some of the most skilled players in world football, this is a huge bugbear of mine
