I agree Dameerto that it should but I'm not too sure it would've tbh. If Mane gets there first then Ederson clatters him, I reckon Moss sends Ederson off in that instance, wrong as that would be.

Hypothetical, as Eddie timed it right, but if he hadn't I fully expect he would have gotten a red. I don't get the 'wrong as that would be' remark.
If he comes that far out of his box on a one on one, he knows the consequences of getting it wrong.
He didn't get it wrong and took the consequences of making sure he got it right. Extremely courageous goalkeeping, both in decision making and execution.
Mane got it very wrong. He went for the ball straight leg studs showing above shoulder height. He wasn't risking anything of himself by going for it with his head.

I don't believe it was malicious but I don't understand how anyone can have sympathy for him or doubt the decision given by the ref.

'Wrong as that would be' as the foot from Mane would still be high and still endangering an opponent's safety.

Gotcha! Fair point. As I say it's hypothetical as you would have to judge it on what actually happens. The stakes were high for Eddie though and he got it right.
If he flinched or pulled out a fraction he was in danger of putting his team a man down.He didn't flinch and took the impact.
You could argue that Mane did the same but got it wrong. Well the consequences to his team were the same in my view.
Incidentally i haven't seen the one from yesterday that the comparisons are being made with, but regardless I would state that whatever happened yesterday has no bearing on whether the correct decision was given on Saturday or not. It was.
If the same should have happened yesterday instead of a yellow, is the question, not the other way around.

You can say that again, reverse the players and we'd have Ederson with a lifetime ban for trying to have Mane's eye out.
In any case I've had enough of all this 'everybody agrees it was accidental' rubbish as trumpeted by city hating half-wits like Sutton on MOTD last night.

The plain fact is Mane saw that Ederson got there first and carried through with his lunge anyway - deliberately trying to injure him.

Image

His eyes were wide open as Ederson headed the ball - plenty of time for him to pull out of the full force contact. Anybody who has played the game knows that - which makes the coterie of his apologists like Lineker, Wright etc all the more contemptible.

Had to laugh when Shearer and Wright said they would go for it - "you would too wouldn't you Gary?"

LOL yeah right

Totally fed up with all this shit now . Our keeper was brave but got clattered and taken out through a dangerous head high tackle and suffered a potential serious head injury in the process . The only person that matters the REF got it spot on ! The fucking end !!!

I don't think he meant it. It was reckless yes, and he knew he was endangering Ederson so he deserved a red, but there was no malice. Split second and he would have nicked it over the keeper.

Question is, had he got there first would a free still be awarded against him for high foot?

He kicked him in the head and got sent off. No further questions required.

Except about the mangled headworkings of those who disagree with the decision or want to defend Mane as 'unlucky'.

aside from being incredibly brave for his injury, his all round play in the match was superb, good save v Salah but he commanded his area very well too, intercepted and held a lot of low crosses/passes, looks very comfortable with the ball at his feet as well

Not going to lie, I didn't know anything about Ederson prior to us signing him. I thought his fancy name sounded pretty cool though.

My mind is well and truly made up about him now , he looks a bargain in this crazy World of over inflated extortionate transfer fees.

His distribution is excellent, he reads the game very well, the way he got down to that low shot so quickly from Mane with his right hand was impressive. Not only that the lad has a big pair of bollocks on him, he doesn't shit out of 50/50 Balls.

I like him.

If their appeal were to be turned down, could Mané's ban be increased to four games ??

Mind you, in view of the orchestrated media campaign we've witnessed, the red card will probably be rescinded.

Ah, but their friends in the media have been working their magic and instigating a positive tsunami of candles to rewrite the rules. It's signed, sealed, and about to be delivered.
