Me. It looked really bad during the game. I'm very delighted to be wrong and let people do the gloating over the matter.

Nothing wrong with worrying about a player's health after he got kicked in the head and donned an oxygen mask.

Weird thing to gloat over though.

You said he had brain damage and could be a vegetable? Can you quote your comment please so I can see.

Unfortunately, the credit for that one goes to Woody Allen. But thanks, anyhow.

disclaimer: i am NOT criticizing him. he's already far and away better than Bravo and looks like a good keeper both with his feet and his hands.

moving on.
has he actually been tested? im trying to recall all of our matches and we've had the ball for most of them so im wondering if we actually know about Emerson yet. he obviously had the huge gaffe vs United in preseason and a few whiffs on corners but he's made basically every save and has been quick off his line. but he hasn't faced a barrage of shots from quality players yet i dont think. he still feels a little untested thus far.

If you actually watched the games, you'd be able to easily answer that rather than spewing some talking head bs. "City are playing great, but has their keeper/defense/midfield/attack/tactics ACTUALLY been tested???"

Fuck off phips

so, please, tell me when Ederson has been tested. i said i couldn't recall and was asking if there were instances.

try having a conversation rather than putting forward angry, retaliatory comments that lack any substance and make you look like an uneducated brute.

Ederson 100 x better than the two we had last season, combined.

Ederson was tested when he got a boot smashed in to his face and had to have half his face sewn back up but still came back a few days later to play.

Another very assured performance last night apart from that one hairy moment in the first half from a free kick, don't know how that bloke didn't get his header on target.

Not sure that is an example Phips was referring to.

But it is an excellent example of bravery and courage and anticipation. All attributes you want to see in a goalie. And for him to play as soon as he did speaks volumes about his character.

Last season our goalie was rarely tested. We had the fewest shots faced of all teams. It was just our goalie forgot to save them. This season is noticeably different already.

I really like him

I'd add to that NB that we would have far more shots on our goal if it wasn't for his anticipation and speed off his line.
He sniffs a lot of danger out by getting to a ball at the feet of an attacker or before an attacker gets a shot off.

I thought he was tested last night and was excellent. I voted him MoTM. Great distribution, confident with the ball at his feet, quick off his line, commands his area plus quick reactions for diving saves. He gives our defence much more confidence. I loved Joe Hart but Ederson genuinely seems an upgrade in all departments.

Of course he has been tested. He's been tested in exactly the environment he'll find himself in for most of the time. We'll have the lion's share of possession in most games and he is expected to

1 be available to recycle from the back
2 rush off his line if necessary
3 keep his concentration up even if he only faces one shot on goal all game

I'd say he's done pretty damn well with every one of those. Plus, his throws and kicks into our breaking speedsters yesterday were sublime. Fantastic accuracy and range.
