Ederson's biggest impact has come in the form of trust. Stones and Otter don't have to constant play on top of him like they did with Bravo because they didn't trust him to do his job when called upon. Ederson between the sticks has allowed them to be more expansive in their play(anyone recall Johnny playing right wing at one point against Palace). It filters all the way through to Aguero, if only there was some way to prove this 7-0-0 F26 A2...oh there's that.

moving on.
has he actually been tested? im trying to recall all of our matches and we've had the ball for most of them so im wondering if we actually know about Ederson yet. he obviously had the huge gaffe vs United in preseason and a few whiffs on corners but he's made basically every save and has been quick off his line. but he hasn't faced a barrage of shots from quality players yet i dont think. he still feels a little untested thus far.

Untested?? In a team that tends to have around 70% of the possession your not going to get him touching the ball and making saves every few minutes. What you want is a keeper that is switched on all of the time and that can hold his concentration. On Saturday I don't recall him touching the ball until the very last minute of the first half when the ball was played through to the Palace forward, Ederson was on him in a flash and slid out and got the ball. That is just as important as a flying save.

He was clearly tested last night and came through with flying colours. He's aggressive and constantly on the front foot, he can also distribute with both his feet and hands and clearly oozes confidence which has spread throughout the team. I am not really sure what more you want him to do, maybe do the samba or the Poznan? He is a huge upgrade and I love just how unflashy he is. Any young goalkeeper should watch him. He is top class.

yeah, we agree on his distribution and speed coming off his line, like i mentioned.

i guess what i was really getting it was his shot-stopping ability. but like you and a few others have astutely pointed out us hogging the ball means he's not going to get called into action a lot (which led to my "untested" remark) so it might not be an issue.

and as i mentioned i didnt see the Shakhtar match so its good to hear that he was great in that one, as expected

I think there is a lot of truth in this. I'd liken it to leaving the house with the door locked or wide open. Bound to play on your mind if you're in town and know the front door is wide open and the house empty.

Think he has it in him to be for us was Schmeical was for the rags. He just has that presence about him that says "thou shalt not pass"

Best goalkeeper in the country. He's got everything, including being a great reader of the game.

Agree 100%.
The transformation in the defence with Ederson between the sticks has been nothing short of amazing.

today's yet another showing of Slim's post.
wonder how much part of Stones path to Beckembauer is on him, even more that the confidence gained alongside Kompany.

That is a big shout. Cruyff once told me that Beckenbauer was the best player he ever played against.

youre a very lucky guy, mate with nearly divine frequentations.
In fact I wrote "[on the] path to", and I am aware that even that is a bold statement, with some likelyhood to became a rich one.
let's see if Stones has in him to keep up on the current path.
I'd take one thing for granted: the current showcase of Pep's improved players is gonna work wonders for City either on the dressing room and on future tranfer window.

what wrong in callin Johan Cruyff almost divine? You factor managerial influence with his sublime playing and I dare say Cruyff's influence on football have been above Maradona's.

I don't think there is another keeper in the Prem that would have come out and caught that cross in a crowd of players like he did. He then threw it straight to Sterling and we should have scored on the counter.
The difference in the confidence of the defence is amazing.
I love this guy!

I think my favourite moment yesterday was around the 75 minute mark, when he was lining up a kick to the centre right, and in a split second, changed to a long throw to his left. He'd created a load of space on that side through his movements, and totally panicked Chelsea's midfield.

In that scenario, Hart would have rolled the ball on the floor, waited 7-8 seconds for Chelsea to reorganize, and then booted it to one of their fullbacks.
