Hard to say actually. I saw them in their last three games, with Spain, Macedonia and Albania, and they managed to win just with the last one in the last 15 minutes. If Sweden scores first, I can't see the italians scoring three times.
Where is the return game? What stadium?

San Siro on Monday

NB, this isn't the time or the place for that sort of candour......... ;)

I’m sorry to say, I agree with NB.
I think if we don’t get to Russia I’d enjoy my summer better by not watching the WC at all.
We’re god awful to watch, but I feel compelled to, out of some misguided national pride.
If we’re not there that wouldn’t be a problem. Everyone would be happier.

Totally disagree. It was s bit like a Champs league game. You go away and don't concede but hope you might just nick one. It all worked out well but there is a real test on Tuesday to get through. I don't thnk anymore can be expected from Eire. You can only make the most of the resources you have and I quite enjoy seeing that in the WC. I doubt the Danes would set the tournament alive. A great sporting day for Eire. Too good for S Africa and a one off game on Tuesfay for a WC place.. happy days for such a small population.

Silva got a brace but it was vs Costa Rica so that doesnt really count but it really is maddening that he continually scores for Spain and not for City

Watching Ireland tonight made me appreciate how lucky I am to be witnessing this City team and the unbelievably good football they produce. Ireland game tonight was like watching City at their worst in the 90's tonight and Denmark were just as bad. International football is hard to take at that middle level, very little class on the pitch tonight, Spuds Ericksen the only decent player of note.

Exactly G&B.
I also appreciate what seem like kind words from SSB, but the fact is that isn’t a one off CL type display from us.
I’ve watched that all through the qualifiers.
When we get it right with the limited resources we have, I would agree that there is so much to admire, but it’s all the old fashioned organisational thing. Work ethic. Team work. Togetherness. Never say die etc etc.

But all too often all I see is professional footballers just hoofing the ball out of play rather than trying to play football.

I’m as patriotic as the next guy and used to go to all the Irish games but I find it very hard to watch now but feel compelled to.
It’s just something in the national psyche.

I can’t wish failure on them because I genuinely believe it means so much to each player to play for Ireland and it means so much to the nation.
But it really wouldn’t upset me greatly if we don’t qualify.
For the fans as much as the team I think Russia could be a big disappointment.

Class. And from someone who has herself put herself out to home a Romanian gypsy. Not even relatives' money can't buy class like that.

Listening to the Switzerland v Northern Ireland game on Radio 5 - Imagine my disappointment that despite saying Johnny Evans name numerous times so far the insertion of 'fucling' has not been mentioned once ...#BiasBBC

Edit - oops, genuinely typed the wrong one .... by trying not to type the wrong one

Not much point going to the finals if you struggle to put the ball in the net.

They played much better today than in the home leg. Missed their chance (despite the dodgy penalty) to push on in that game

I am not really following the international break matches, but I hope most of our lads are getting a good rest and not exerting themselves too much.

Busy period of real football coming up. And thats all that matters.

Probably, shit keeping too but well in Dave, love that tenacity even if your goal doesn't really count.

Sweden just ran out of defensive midfielders. Will be a tough 70 minutes to come.
