A scrappy own goal levels it for the Danes. Just a bit more than lucky and then it goes even worse as I type.

C’mon Ireland. (Can’t help myself)

The last six play off games have all ended 0-0. Shocking stuff. Maybe teams are just too scared to lose they don't try their hardest for fear off losing?

I blame Mourinho and the press who laud his boring stalemates a "masterclass"

We’re the United of the Internationsl world?
That’s a bit harsh.
No need for that NB.

We’ve just gone a goal up.
That’s the worst thing that can happen this Irish team in the past.
Hope they don’t try and defend it for 90 minutes.
Me nerves.

Not having a go at the Irish IWT, more an observation that a lot of teams, which happen to include both Irish teams as it happens, were perhaps not as adventurous as they could have been. Now, the prize of a place at a World Cup might be a mitigating circumstance to be fair.

My point was a 0-0 is at present being lauded by a lot of pundits and media in general as being a good result. They had this discussion to a degree on the Sunday Supplement a few weeks ago whereMartin Samuels called the other panellists out by saying a 0-0 is a failure both in the object of the game, which is of course to win by out scoring your opponent and by the value of entertainment.

Only pulling your leg NB.
I’d say United would be more insulted than Irish fans to be honest.
We seem incapable of playing football. Doing the simplest of the basics, like passing to a team mate.

Anyway my point about us scoring early being bad.......
We’re now 1-2 down and all our own fault.

I actually thought we’d hold out until 10 minutes from the end. Then lose 1-1.

Hard to see us scoring 2 now, but at least let’s have a go.

Ineligibility aside, he isn't even at the level of the under 17 team

All good goals by all accounts as well. Great player. Hope one of your boys gives him a good kick. Think spuds without Erikson or Kane aren't nearly as effective

Took them brilliantly but all starting from Irish mistakes.
We haven’t s footballer amongst them. We know that. But, it’s been particularly depressing watching this lot under O’Neill who I think is devoid of any tactical spark.

Not sure who could get anything out of this lot to be fair to him.

Anyway 1-5 now. We’ve been completely shown up by Denmark. Could you imagine if by some miracle we got to Russia and played someone really good.

It’s probably all worked out for the best really.

I have never got the media fawning of O'Neill. Got lucky at Celtic with Larsson. Did ok at Leicester but he is another disciple of the brigade of avoid defeat first no matter how dire the football is.
