As far as I understand how we are now operating under Pep's direction in the transfer market, it is likely that this ship has already sailed.

Pep doesn't want players who don't want to play for City or use us in anyway after we have an agreement.

His agent is clearly part of the issue here, as he's reneged on the agreement and tried to exploit the situation given Utd's desperation and TBF, 2008-like City approach to improving their squad. I hate to say this as a City fan, but from a business POV for the agent and even Sanchez given the money being offered -- I can see why he's going for it as it is practically a Don Corleone-like "offer you can't refuse" in terms of money, and Utd should improve and challenge better next year, even if Sanchez prefers us, which he clearly does.

If you look at the players who have signed for us who I think are Pep players, which includes Sterling and KDB, I think they picked City/playing for Pep and we did whatever we had to get it across the line. Those situations, including Stones, Mendy and Walker's drawn out negotiations were about the clubs we were dealing with, not the agents. We already get that sorted before we negotiate with clubs, hence why they often push the price up when we want someone.

This time we thought we had that worked out, and the agent did what he did and Utd are a wildcard with the amount of money they will throw at a player who even prefers to sign for their biggest rivals.
