You may be right in general Hazy but I very much doubt that about us winning the league with him last season, De Gea has the luxury of playing behind an unadventurous side so has the protection in front of him to save him from being exposed, he wouldn't have that protection in a Guardiola side.

It's a similar thing to some of our fans wanting to sign centre backs that look good in defensive set ups, I'd rather we signed defenders that look good in attacking set ups, seeing as that's the style we will play.

And De Gea isn't that great on the ball and his distribution under pressure is gash. Good shot stopper though.

Has to be though doesn't he? Our keeper really just needs to be adequate, having one shot per game. Letting in that one shot every game is the frustration!!!! :D

Really think we should try and get this lad ourselves, difficult and costly though that might be.

What's the asking price? Arsenal's £87m and no CL was rejected.

We were desperate to get the deal done after Alves so we had to pay Levy's price. We'll have to pay Monaco's price for Mendy too. Hopefully they'll both be on the plane on Monday for Pep to work with. Lots to consider; another rb? another lb? a cb? a def mid? a forward? but we absolutely have to have these two,

Mendy out of Monaco squad travelling abroad with slight thigh injury ( which he picked up on international duty weeks ago). He won't take part in second half of pre season tour either. This is happening.

I dont believe it had anything to do with Alves.

It seems to me we had our own deadlines in regards the US tour given the timing of this and the seeming likelihood of Mendy being sorted this weekend.
