Defenders, Where Are They?

Postby Niall Quinns Discopants » Thu Jul 06, 2017 8:04 am

We need at least five new fefenders this summer just to field a team nevermind improve it. There should practically be one defender signing every week from now til the start of the season. Txiki is making mess of this again.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

5 days in, we should have all 5 signed already. In fact, we should have them signed and already injured for the rest of the season by now.

I've thought about it and I still know that we are at the mercy of the selling clubs who may want to hold onto their player until they have lined up a replacement, which is at the mercy of the selling club who may want to hold onto their player until they have lined up a replacement.

We've done just as much business as most other clubs. If the window closes and we don't have our targets then the Finn may have a point.

Most of these deals take easily few months to go through so they should be well on place by now.

I'd have liked to have seen more movement by now rather than just a pile of rumours, Six days in PLUS the whole of June.

Does the Chairman in his end of season interview, mislead us on transfers. He is cool, calculated, yet the signings he hints at, where we need strength and he refers to it directly do not seem as straight forward as he makes them out to be. I think he has done this before and we scramble at the end of the window.

Ryan Bertrand on his last day of his in Cannes

Others probably the same, personally i wouldn't let anything come between me and my holidays

Money talks players walk, run & fly. Holidays mean nothing to agents and a selling club.

As maybe but you can't unveil a player if he's sat on a sun lounger in Miami, maybe, just maybe it's all done and dusted, just waiting for him to land at Ringway to complete the formalities.....

This is a very important window but but still we still haven't sorted our most serious deficiencies apart from possibly the keeper (hopefully, jury is out there).
Yes concerned about the lack of defenders were being linked with. So far its just Alves, Walker, Mendy and Bertrand. Are they good enough or even enough to bridge the gap from 3rd to 1st, which is what we all want. Its a big gap, we were well off the pace defensively last season.
Holidays or whatever excuses we really do need to get on with it, and quickly too.

given that the other teams are already on the training grounds getting ready for next season, i'd prefer our manager to be there as well... not doing a fucking q&a session with mcilroy hosted by that absolute cunt james fucking nesbit
