I think he's a quality right back. Just a shame he's a bit of a knob head.

Shouldn't it be 'unless' rather than 'until', or have you written him off already?

I'm trying desperately not to "write him on" .

I can't understand why the Spafia think this is a good purchase. I really am struggling with this one.

Agreed.

Defensively suspect and somewhat underwhelming.

Is he the best we can do ??

He's been in the team of the season the last two years so he's the best right back in the league.

Doubt he'll get picked once he plays for us mind!

I don't think this fully answers the question as to whether he's the best we can do.

Moreover, being picked for the team of the season is no guarantee of quality, as other factors seem to prevail in such nominations.

the bald truth MC is that quality full backs are thin on the ground, given that young Hector is off the a la carte I'd be very interested to know the alternatives.

Think he's the best out there who has PL experience. No complaints from me and weakens Spurs significantly.

Good signing.

spuds fans are saying quite the opposite
they are saying that he was a very popular and important member of their group who had his head turned. in the main they are gutted to see him go.

He is a very good signing, and strengthens us in a problem area.
I suppose some people are just not happy no matter who is or is not brought in.
If we signed Neymar for 20 quid there would be loads moaning!!

Just because a person is not totally convinced by a potential signing doesn't mean they wouldn't be happy "no matter who is or is not brought in".

On that basis, I find your comment to be somewhat fatuous, although apologies if it wasn't meant that way.

I do take JO'S comment on board about the difficulty in sourcing a decent alternative.

The fullback is a position more important in a Guardiola team than just about any other manager's team,so good business as he'll fit like a glove. I hope we break the world record for a signing this summer just to fuck over the media scum.

Walkers in tweet from the other year:

'Was u all there when city was no where to be seen#gloryfans'

Wanker. Hope it falls through because we have someone else in mind and he's left with no one interested and rots on the Spurs bench.

I expect him to apologise for that comment.

Hes a good defender but not the best in the prem, and for 54 million. you would expect the fuckign best.Anyway , considering our defence has been bennyhillesque all season Im happy we have an actual player who can defend...54 million or not.

Lets not forget, he's the one who looks the tit for making that comment then jumping at the chance to sign.

ya think so? Poch seemed to favor Trippier over Walker in the big matches towards the end of last season, and Trippier did look good.

Glad you found that as I thought he was a knob. Given him plenty of grief from me seat in the east stand while he pretended to be a cockney and he will get more if he does sign for us, unless we get an apology. Can't believe there aren't other options that would improve our defence without signing this knob.

No more than 75 - 90 mill for an average prem striker. I'd argue much less so infact
