I thought this was interesting

Pep Guardiola's aim is fairly clear: dominate play until opposition sides are squealing out safewords. Manchester City bragged the highest amounts of Maintenance and Build Up possessions in the Premier League last season, as they aimed to quickly move into the attacking half.
Guardiola's men were ranked No.2 for Counter Attacking too, helped by having arguably the Premier League's best player for that particular job in Kevin De Bruyne. With a fresh set of full-backs and Gabriel Jesus in for his first full campaign, what on earth might they be capable of in 2017/18?

If we up the tempo we would rule the planet.

Wasn't so horrible the last 3 games we've utilised it no?

Our defence has looked much better as well as our attack.

Isn't it amazing what proper full backs can for a team.

He will play 3-5-2, I've absolutely no doubt about that but he'll also play 4-3-3, 4-4-2 etc. etc.

Exactly.

I think we will utilise various formations, but he wanted to see how we would do with this version of 3-5-2 as we are more acclimated with the other ones.

Also the 4-1-4-1/4-1-2-2-1/4-1-2-3 (with Yaya/Fern as the holding midfielder) we used quite a bit as well (which I think some see as the 4-3-3).

Possession and ball retention. Pass and move the ball to create gaps in the opposition defence. Have the attacking players with the vision and skill to execute final ball to create a goal scoring chance.

Try and win the ball back as quickly as possible and repeat first paragraph.

Play the ball from defence and not boot it upfield as too try and keep possession. See paragraph one.

Sounds very simple but it is not. However, when we stick to this plan we will be unstoppable.

We will, delivery has been improved and we've not seen what Mendy has to offer yet, nor Bernado really. Danilo was delivering from both left and right and is not afraid to take a shot from outside the box either! The latter is also something we've all been frustrated with..

I think 4-3-3 would be the best version for us. 3-5-2 is not a system fit for EPL looking back at what happend last year. Also, how would our 3 on the back look like? with Walker, Mendy and Danilo near Vinnie, Otter and maybe Mangala?

I quite agree PP; moreover 4-3-3 is my favourite football formation of all, provided the three midfielders are of the correct quality - and I certainly don't think we're lacking in this area.

Three players up front is a really fluid composition and it's a difficult task to mark all of them out of a game, for the full ninety minutes. Overall, to me, a team's balance between attack and defence seems right with 4-3-3 which, I feel, screams out 'goals'.

Come on Pep; you know it makes sense.
