Listened to Chris Houghton this morning and he didn't sound confident at all. It was very much one of those 'Unlucky to have a Big Club for their opener bit we've go to ensure we enjoy it'.

Horrible first fixture. You want these in octobér when they are used to getting thrashed. However I have real optimism for this season and it's exactly the sort of game we are going to have to win if we are to romp the league by Easter. Both clubs will be trying to lay down a marker so it should be a cracker, but I suspect it will become a game of "attack and defence" quite soon.
We'll win though

Thanks for that JL.

Good to see Pep going back at them for the spending spree. One thing they never mention is how we haven't spent in the fullback position for years and even though they criticised us for not renewing, they now criticise us for spending

Who have actually paid for as a FB since the takeover? I'm sure it's only Kolarov, Clichy and Zab, all for a mere 30 million while across the road, for instance, have spent a fortune in that time on the likes of Shaw (27 mil just for him), Darmian, Rojo, Blind etc, and now have to utilise 2 former wingers who again cost more than our purchases alone.

Then look at all the FBs the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Dippers have brought in, it makes no sense at all just to pick on ours.

Then again, it's the fear that gets them which turns their 'opinions' to shit. They now know we have addressed our weak area with the only thing left to hit us for his our CB position. The 'If' Kompany gets injured or, 'If' Stones does not progress or, 'If' ... ' Insert any of our other CBs here' ......

Anyway, good to see talking football again, now let's go and do it on the pitch.

6 season streak of winning our opener (longest current streak in the league).

guessing Pep goes with:

Ederson
Kompany Stones Otamendi
Yaya
Walker Silva Kevin Danilo
Jesus

i hope he actually goes with:

Ederson
Walker Kompany Stones Danilo
Yaya
Kevin Silva Sane
Jesus Aguero

Sterling HAS to start. He's scored in pretty much every game in preseason. What more does he have to do?!

Given the Arse, Dippers and Chavs games we must NOT be complacent. Come out hard and fast and get a couple of early goals ...please.

Just heading into the Centre of Belfast to watch the match in a pub. Hope to f@@k we put on a fine display, playing scintillating football and score at least four goals. A clean sheet would go down well too

Surely that isn't to much to ask is it?
