My first thought is actually about Tosin. This, if trun, would suggest Pep doesn't think he is ready even as 4th choice center back and maybe would be best loaned out for a season to see how it goes.

If that's the case then ok he would be useful back up.

He's ambifooted, very good injury record, at the peak age for a CB, international captain, world cup warrior, CL & PL winner, hugely experienced, likes Manchester, wants to come, very cheap and 6' 2" - all these worries about him not being very good - what more could we want?

Problem with Tosin, is if its one of the others injured, you'd be happy for him to slot in. If it's VK injured, Stones and Otamendi are absolute clowns in terms of leading a defnece and thats no place for a young lad to be in his debut season.

Having said that, with 3 at the back and VK's injury record, even 5th choice he will get plenty of games

None of these are the issue. Its the fact he is a rag thats the problem.

so was Carlitos, Law and Kiddo and quite a few more - they all did a good job for us and this one is home grown to boot!

Im not disagreeing with u but history with rags makes this place more anxious than ever. Life would be easier if we never signed one, between ourselves if nothing else.

it would be preferable if we could find a better home grown one somewhere else - but apparently not and we need decent CB cover

Agreed. If we persist with 3 at the back we'll need more CBs than we currently have. We also need cover for VK's commanding and leadership role - hopefully not for injuries but there's always the possibility of suspensions and we wouldn't want him playing every game would we! If Evans is indeed Guardiola's choice, the only issue I have is the rag past, but then he's not coming direct like Tevez did. Is he a rag supporter?

I wonder (if true) if it's possible he's being bought as cover for leftback as well as central defence. He'll be 30 in January though, so it makes no sense (other than some onfield leadership maybe). There has to be better targets available.

Because he's British? Dunno where we are upto with quotas, but I expect this comes into it.

Regarding his age, he only has 300 games under his belt mostly due to the fact he was only first choice at united for just over a season, so he could be one of those who can keep a decent level of fitness till well into his mid 30s

Edit to say, just heard we had an 18m bid rejected - FUCK THAT

I think he has spent more time in the physio room than on the pitch.

I asked my son what he thought of Evans and he said he's "rubbish" - he hasn't yet developed the anyone but a Rag so that's a good enough view point for me.

£18m bid rejected according to the BBC web site.

I've no objection if someone improves us, but NOT a player we should get shafted for with a 'CITY' price..!! Move on.

We want to be one of the best clubs in the world and we are being linked with Evans. From Bonucci to Evans. Sigh

Just nitpicking JC, but Law was a bit different as he started out with us when we signed him for £60,000 from Huddersfield.

It was only later that he ended up at the Swamp.

On balance, (over)paying the Scum good money for a third rater just doesn't sit well with myself.
