We need to set a marker down early in the title race and win this.
Obviously Pep's tactics will be anyone's guess.
Agreed, the officials won't matter if our players don't turn up as per norm at Anfield. Sterling's ban has probably done him and the team a favour as he seems to have is worst games against his old club.
I am usually crap at predictions but fear a 3-1 defeat ...
We'll get well belted if we turn up at Anfield ; the game's at Etihad.
Well done, DM to claim your prize!
Meanwhile Moss is the ref >>>
The players of Liverpool and Manchester City, who meet at the Etihad for a 12.30pm BST kick-off on Saturday, September 9, will be joined on the pitch by referee Jonathan Moss.
Eddie Smart and Andy Halliday are his designated assistants, while Craig Pawson will be patrolling the technical areas in the role of fourth official.
In his three previous games this season Moss has produced a combined ten yellow cards and zero red.
Liverpool encountered the 46-year-old on three occasions during 2016/17, winning on each occasion.
In addition to league victories at West Bromwich Albion (four yellow cards shown, one to Liverpool) and Middlesbrough (one yellow card shown, none to Liverpool), Moss presided over the 2-1 EFL Cup triumph over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield in October (five yellow cards shown, three to Liverpool).
City also enjoyed a 100% record of two wins from two in their 2016/17 encounters with the former head teacher; beating Hull City and Watford.
Overall, in his 37 matches refereed last term, the Sunderland native handed out a total of 141 yellow cards and three red.
His yellow card average finished at 3.81-per-game, with a red card shown every 12.33 matches.
Moss is associated with the West Riding County Football Association and he has been part of the Select Group of Premier League referees since 2011.
