Postby PeterParker » Thu Sep 07, 2017 1:24 pm

BREAKING: Premier League clubs vote to close transfer window on the Thursday before the start of next season. Only affects signing players.

Good.

The spafia can hurry up and solve the transfer early in the pre-season.

So other top clubs around Europe can now came in and unsettle players after the window is shut and leave Prem clubs with no time to replace players should they kick up a stink to leave.

I like the idea that the window shuts before the football starts but this needs to be Europe wide.

Agree in principle, but countries with Summer seasons need to be taken into account with that, as well as the fact that the UEFA season (for qualification to European competitions) starts only a few weeks after the season ends.

That'll make for rather intense period next summer with the World Cup, any decent player we'd only gety about 3 weeks to get business done..... players will be with national teams traning when the window opens and if they have a succesful WC campaign won't be on the plane home until 15th July.

If we struggled with best part of 3 months this summer.....

From a spectator point of view it's apealing that's for sure

I think it will be up to City to make it absolutely crystal clear, written in stone, with indelible pen, to players, agents and the whole world that NO players will be sold after the close of the PL transfer window except those we wish to offload. I don't care what other clubs do.

From the Express

Manchester United and Manchester City vote against Premier League transfer window changes

14 clubs voted through the motion by the narrowest possible margin and next summer Premier League clubs only will stop trading at 5pm on August 9, the Thursday before the first weekend of fixtures.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea are all understood to have been among those in favour, with one club choosing to abstain.

It's being reported that we were against it as it would hamstring English clubs in the market.

Bit of a to do about nothing really. Kind of daft to vote for something that may bite you in the ass in the future.

What an utterly stupid decision. Hara kiri. Now every other club knows that premier league clubs need to finish their business early and can squeeze out even more money out of the clubs. The self sabotage continues. First the premier League ffp and now this.

It's a good idea but needs to be implemented Europe-wide.

Think we all agree good if it's everyone. Not a chance Spain will follow suit and we'll have Madrid and Barca unsettling players.

Makes no sense at all if you ask me. Unless this is Europe wide then it only helps those selling clubs who don't want the pressure of having to get in a replacement and pocket the money, that's why the likes of Arsenal pushed for it.
