Who will fight it out for the title

Postby nottsblue » Sat Sep 16, 2017 7:21 pm

Obviously very early days but come the spring who will be in the race?

We are clearly in a great place right now, scoring goals for fun and actually keeping clean sheets to boot. But last year we won the first ten and that didn't pan out as we thought. So don't want to get all giddy just yet. But we will surely fare better this time around.

I still think Chelsea will be up there at the business end. Morata seems an able deputy for Costa. Bakayoko is superior to Matic regardless of the medias fawning over him. And Hazard is always a danger. Whether they have the squad depth to cope with the extra workload this time remains to be seen, but I think they will be our main challengers

Sadly, it appears the rags have improved on last year. I don't think it is enough but if the officiating they received last year is repeated, they could well be on the edge of being in the mix. Lukaku will score goals which was their problem last year. If just a few of the draws they ground out last time are victories this season it will make a difference.

The dippers have no chance of the PL IMO. They are too soft at the back and without a recognised 25 goal a season striker their extra workload this season will take it's toll

Spuds will regret going to Wembley I think. They seem to have a real hurdle to get over there. Teams like Burnley and Swansea upped their games as it might be their players only chance to play there in their careers. Another half dozen sides at least are in the same boat and I think this will ultimately cost them.

So I think it will be between ourselves and Chelsea. I'm sure there will be plenty of twists and turns throughout the season, but one thing is for certain. We are going to score a shit load of goals along the way.

If we can get results this season against the other 'top' teams like we did against Liverpool there will be no one to catch us. Frankly I don't care who comes second although in an ideal world I'd have the scum and dippers consigned to the chore of the EL at best.

Agree with JL in terms of turning around our previous form against top six from last season, scouse result was an unbelievable start on that front.

Scouse themselves, not a chance of taking the title what so ever..

Spud's really have chosen the wrong time to play out of Wembley, it's early days but it'll either go one of two ways... Had they been still out of the lane they'd definitely would have been top contenders. Lass in office who is ST holder said at end of last season she expected them to finish top 10 nothing more.

Chelski def in the mix imo, as for rags, they've improved over last season, hopefully Pogba being out for six weeks (headline I saw yesterday) will hopefully crush his supposed form.

We were relatively slow out of the blocks ourselves (lack of tempo in the first 20 mins in the early games) but our recent form indicates this has been addressed.

Our confidence along with teams realising parking the bus won't be as effective this year as last.

I don't think any of the new signings this summer can be faulted from what I've seen. Walker needs to be less rash in challenges if I'm being picky.

KDB in the deeper role works, really works. Raheem has looked iffy so far but I'm sure he'll sort that.

The match officials, as ever are possibly the only variable we can't control (still), that said if we the fans, former players (Sinclair, Franny, etc) and the occasional hack keep voicing our opinion about decisions then maybe it's filtering back to them (the Wankers).

As NB started out saying, it's early days but looking good for us

Forgot to even mention the arse, all I have to say on that front is A-ha A-ha A-ha

If I had to say now, I'd say chelsea.

It's their turn to go one on one with us.
The rags and dippers already had had their turn.

Filth.

Next summer it will be 5 years years since the rags won their last title. The media, the F.A. and even some players will do everything in their power for them to win it this year.
Sadly, it seems that they really did a fantastic piece of business with Lukaku, but bare in mind, if he get injured, they are fucked.

Chelsea will be a difficult opponent also, but filth will be our direct rival this year and most of all, they will receive a special treatment from everyone.

It's still any of the big 4 for me. The Rags and Chelsea will push us all the way but Spurs are still involved too.

US and Gillscum.

but, as OD point out in the Genius thread, we now have the quality to make our own style up.
Hence, it will be increasingly harder to cheat City out of their belongings, imo.
today at Vicarage rd., watching the team moves without the ball, was very telling and relaxing

1. "unintelligible language"
2. "ACID QUEEN"
3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

there must be some truth, then!

Palace,Brighton & Swansea......we'll you started it.

Any talk of the title after 5 games is very very premature. Remember last 2 seasons ??

City have a chance & I think we'll win it but there is a lot of water to pass under the bridge yet.

As an ambition,I'd like to see us win the PL 3 times on the bounce. That would cement us as a great side & club.

We'll win it this season but the rags and chelski will be up there. Maureen may be a cunt, but he's a cunt who knows how to win trophies.

After we improved our squad in the summer in some real key areas, I expect us to be challenging for the league, if not expected to win it.

I can see Cheslki and Rags being our main rivals, as much as I think the rags will fall away, experience tells me to never write them off. They've had a much better start to the season that I expected them to. And whilst they haven't really played anyone decent, you can only beat whats in front of you.

Either way, it should be fascinating season!

Its far too early to tell who else will be challenging us but its not too early to say they will all be challenging us.

As far as the Munchens are concerned , they have scored most of their goals in the last 10 mins - Maureen, arguably , makes all of his subs in the last 15 which tells us that they go all out in the last 15..............other coaches should adapt their tactics ffs..its plain for all to see.
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

Between us, Scum and Chelsea, with Spuds in 4th.

United on paper still have a top 6 squad but the special treatment and United/Mourinho factor will make sure they will be challenging all the way.

I for one think it's about time we just won the league and had it wrapped up by April, but the dodgy decisions will likely make it go all the way to the last couple of matches.

Too early for title talk.

This is City's worst start to the season since 2014.
